    Default Champions League capping central

I opened this thread to discuss Champions League games here under one roof, we can work together to find value plays.

    So far.

    Maccabi Haifa v Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich have had an offensive explosion with the addition of Robben to their squad, Ribery on one side Robben on the other, this is one of the most frightening partnerships any defense can face in Europe. They will take this game seriously as their embarrasing exit last year is still in their minds. However, Maccabi Haifa have quite a good home record and the weather conditions may be difficult for Bayern players, this is a potential problem.

    Leans: Bayern -1 , Over 2.5 goals

    Juventus vs Bordeaux

Juventus don't just have Diego missing, Sissoko, Del Piero, Hasan Salihamidzic and Zdenek Grygera are all injured but still Juve are have a very strong squad and this just shows the depth they have now. Bordeax shouldn't be underestimated, they have a strong squad but lack experience at this level and have a poor record in Italy loosing twice to Roma last season. I don't like the short odds for Juventus who are missing so many key first team players and Bordeaux will remember their past disasters in Italy and would be happy with a point here.

    Leans: Under 2.5 goals

    Wolfsburg vs CSKA

I don't like this game, Wolfsburg are in awful form, lost their past 3 games in a row, their new manager hasn't got the team performing anything like they were past season. CSKA have lost Love, their manager and are in dissaray right now. Two teams in a crisis here, I'd still say Wolfsburg had the edge at home but this is a hard game to read, it could swing anyway.

    Leans: No bet so far

    Marseille vs Milan

Marseille have started the season well, they are a strong, pyhsical, fast side who are dangerous at home infront of their fanatic home crowd. Ac Milan have been in poor form just like last season however, you can't write off these guys in Europe so easily. Considering their form they won't be comming to play an open game and go outright for the win. A typical Italian take to this game considering Ac Milans form would be to settle for a point and if they do snatch a goal the aim will be to kill off the game.

    Leans: Under 2.5

    Zurich vs Real Madrid

There is a huge quality difference between these two sides, Real haven't been playing great but have still been scoring goals which is bad news for Zurich. Zurich play in a league that is not so focused on defense, if you look at their games there are alot of high scoring matches. If they struggle to keep clean sheets in their domestic league they could have serious problems tonight. Real want to give a message to Europe that they mean business and would love a convincing win tonight.

    Leans: Over 2.5 / 3.5 , Real -1.5

im leaning on the Munich + Madrid Double, what you guys think

Juve seem to offer the best value because Bordeaux struggle away from home. But i can never trust Juve because their approach to games is very negative and i never trust them to score enough. But i do see them winning 2-0.
I may have a go at that.

A bet i may double it with is the ATL Mad/Nicosia over 2.5 goals. Not great odds @ 3/5 but certainly a very good value bet despite the lows odds

Wolfsburg will get their shit togheter today. One of Europes strongest home teams and cska moscow is awful away. Wolf's will take it 2-1!

Juventus has home advantage, trezueget (?) will dominate with a playful game at home.

Throw a 4 team parlay with Chelsea who dont have drogba tonight and ManU. I also bet that Rooney will score as the 3 last games and that Messi will score tomorrow aswell.

    5 team parlay today

    1 Leicester @ 1.80 (Not a CL Play)
    2 Juventus @ 1.57
    3 Chelsea @ 1.36
    4 Wolfsburg @ 1.80
    5 Man Utd @ 1.50

It's so easy to say that Real will just run over Zurich. Real doesnt care if they got scored a goal or two , they'll just score more to win.

I'm leaning toward the Over 3.5 seeing a 1-3 kinda game.

should I bet Real -1.5 then? I don't know. haha

I haven't placed any bets yet but these are my leans:

Maccabi Haifa - Bayern München over 2.5 goals
    Wolfsburg
    Man United
Juventus - Bordeaux under 2.5 goals

A key reason why I predict this game to be high scoring is that Zurich don't play a defensive game in the league. Now when a normally offensive side tries to completely change their style and play men behind ball it can end up real bad for them, its not their style and they will find it very hard to do so. Zurich have a dilema, do they play their normal game, bring the game to Real and hope to shock them by showing no fear or play defensive and hope for a point. If they sit back they could get trashed and buried in their own half, if they take the game to Real they could get an early goal and rattle them making it an interesting game and potential upset.

    These are very likely:
    1) Madrid should win by more than a goal's margin
    2) Bayern could score in the 1st half
    3) Despite their poor domestic form, AC Milan can put up a show in France
    4) Besiktas won't shut down the Man Utd offense

I therefore see these as value plays:

    Real Madrid -1.5
    Man Utd -1
    Bayern Munich (1st half) -111
    AC Milan PK +110

Be careful with the Man U game, they are hot favorites to win no doubt but if there ever was a 12th man you will see it tonight in the Inonu Stadium, Turkish teams are notorious for playing their best against the top sides and have upset many of the big teams at home just look at recent history.

Now I'm not saying take Besiktas, as much as I would LOVE them to win its very unlikely, however, Manchester United win is not as easy as it appears, there is potential for a possible upset here.

    Smogs,

This is the right time to play Rel Madrid and Man Utd. They'll win those road games impressively. One has to be wary of home favorites. I won't touch Juve today. I think that game could end in a 1-1 draw or a Juve loss.
It should all be too clear to us by now that the books NEVER lose on a day like this. I don't see Real Madrid, Man Utd and Juve all winning. Something has to give. I'm suspecting Juve. There's ALWAYS a parlay killer on a day like this.

Drogba and Bosingwa are out, that makes very little value picking Chelsea, but picking Porto would take some balls, they have lost some good players this summer

    I get a lil anxious.

It's the first UCL group game. I'm making way too many bets already

If only one big-name team gonna show up tonight, It's gonna be RE-AL.

Even with Drogba's and Bosingwa's absences, Chelsea still has enough to get past Porto. Porto aren't what they were about 2 years ago. My predictions are:

    1) Both English sides will win
    2) Only one Italian side will win (AC Milan)
    3) Only one German side will win (Bayern)

Hey guys, where can I find injury reports about these games? I've picked up from the forums that Drogba's out, but I don't have a site where I can find that (been primarily using soccerway, vitibet, and betdevil). Thanks!

Real Madrid -1, Bayern Munich -1, Seville -1, Liverpool -1 parlay, these games are big mismatches, there is a big quality gulf between these teams, maybe remove Bayern, Maccabi have quite a good home record.

As far as I know Porto arent missing out on anyone.
Chelsea will be without Drogba, Bosingwa, Alex, Ferreira, J.Cole, Zhirkov, Deco.

    Possible Lineups

CHELSEA: Cech; Ivanovic, Terry, Carvalho, A Cole; Essien; Lampard, Ballack; Kalou, Malouda; Anelka.
PORTO: Helton; Fucile, Rolando, Bruno Alves, Alvaro Pereira; Belluschi, Fernando, Meireles; Falcao, Hulk, Rodriguez.

Juventus under and real madrid -1.5 is a good bet. Porto will also defend in numbers, they are using the same tactics against manchester united last year. And let met note that Juventus had a clean sweep at home last year, not losing at home in CL matches.

  35. #35

    Real Madrid -1.5

Bayern Munich (problems with the defense/keeper this season, therefore Im not sure about the -1 here)

    Manchester United

will probably pick 1-2 more games later
