    Default Europa Futures

Hey, just was clicking around 5Dimes, and found some really great money making opportunity in the Europa league futures. The favorite is +1225, so throw a unit on five different squads (the way I look at it), and one's bound to hit, right?

The teams I like? AS Roma (+1225), Villarreal (+1500), Valencia (+1600), Galatasaray (+2600), and Celtic (+4800). What do you guys think?

Here's the odds list for those inquiring minds as well.

UEFA Europa League - Winner 2009/10
Thu 9/17 1:00PMAS Roma +1225 Hamburger SV +1450 CF Villarreal +1500 CF Valencia +1600 Everton FC +2000 Werder Bremen +2000 Shakhtar Donetsk +2200 Benfica Lissabon +2400 Galatasaray +2600 Ajax Amsterdam +3000 SS Lazio Roma +3500 Sporting Lissabon +3800 Genoa CFC +4000 PSV Eindhoven +4200 Fenerbahce +4200 Hertha BSC Berlin +4500 Celtic Glasgow +4800 Fulham FC +5000 FC Toulouse +5000 Athletic Bilbao +5000 Panathinaikos +5500 FC Twente +6500 OSC Lille +7000 RSC Anderlecht +10000 AEK Athen +12500 FC Kopenhagen +12500 CD Nacional Madeira +12500 SC Heerenveen +15000 Dinamo Bucuresti +15000 CFR Cluj +15000 SK Rapid Wien +17500 Club Brugge +20000 NK Dinamo Zagreb +20000 Steaua Bucuresti +20000 Partizan Belgrad +22500 Levski Sofia +22500 Red Bull Salzburg +25000 FC Timisoara +25000 Hapoel Tel Aviv +25000 AC Sparta Praha +27500 FC Basel +27500 FC BATE Borisov +27500 SK Slavia Praha +30000 CSKA Sofia +30000 SK Sturm Graz +35000 FK Austria Wien +40000 FC Sheriff Tiraspol +50000 FK Ventspils +50000

You may do yourself the favor of removing Celtic and Roma among likely winners. You don't need to be a seer to know that Roma's defense is too bad to win the Europa League. As for Celtic, their road woes will be their undoing. I'd consider the following:

    Valencia +1600
    Everton +2000
    Werder Bremen +2000

I think, all said and done, Valencia will win it. They have the right balance of offense and defense and a decent road form to take them all the way. Villareal looks good, but they'll always stumble at some point. Don't even talk about Galatasaray. At most, they're local champions.

I wanna resurrect this before I make my futures picks tomorrow. You really think Galatasaray doesn't have a legit chance in this competition? I can see your point on Celtic, but I like Galatasaray and they've looked great as of late. I don't think Everton's got a snowballs chance in hell. They're a mediocre English team who could be beaten by Valencia of Villarreal 7 days a week and twice on Sunday.

Werder Bremen's a nice addition though, I think they could make some waves in this tourney. What's the deal with Hamburger? I don't know much about them but they're up there amongst the favorites. Anybody have info?

Hamburg may shine to a point, but I can CONFIRM to you, they'll drop by the wayside.

I'm replacing Everton with Genoa. They're very balanced on both sides of the pitch.

    Valencia +1600
    Werder Bremen +2000

    Genoa +4000

well, hamburg is one og the best herman team at the moment; the have a very great offensive line, a good atmosphere a the club, and great fans
my own favorite team to win the uefa europea league is valencia, because they have some of the greatest spanish players and looks at the last 30 results of Spain. David Villa is a fenomenal striker.
AS Roma has a very easy group and they should have no pb winning it. Even that they aren't having the best start of the seasson, things might change in the spring. It all depends on how will they do it Serie A; i think that if they will be on one of the first 4th positions, they will focus more on the championship...otherwise, they might concentrate on Uefa Europa League.
Don't forget about the Uefa Champions League third places in each group. there are many strong groups and some strong teams will be playing in UEL in spring. Shatior Donetk came from UCL to win the Uefa cup last year.
U said sth about bremen. well, without Diego, i dont think it is that possible.

So i think Valencia, HSV or any UCL team.(altough i hope steaua will triumph )

At most Local Champions? Galatasary were in the Last 16 last season and were very unluky to go out to Hamburg, and they have improved the squad and manager, so to write them off doesnt sound like a sharp move .

Take or leave it, the winner will come from any of these 3 countries: Germany, Italy, and Spain.
I've taken out Everton (England) and replaced them with Genoa (Italy).

    Galatasaray +2600

Great value, I picked these teams before the qualifiers to win the competition at even higher odds.

Valencia don't care about this competition much, if they are doing well in the league they will field their B teams and focus on getting into the Champions League. The English teams to the same as well.

Galatasaray have a legit chance, have you watched Galatasaray this season, have you looked into them at all, don't write off a team before even looking into it. Galatasaray and Fenerbahce have better squads or just as good as every team there except Valencia.

Do not underestimate Galatasaray or Fenerbahce this season, watch some Galatasaray games and see what the legend Rijkard is doing with this team before. And its not like they haven't won this cup before, they have a good record in Europe.

I like Galatasaray, Fenerbahce, Valencia depends on their situation later in the season, Shakhtar Donetsk also a few surprise packages, CFR Cluj and Steau Bucherest or one of the other growing Eastern European sides could make a good run

hmmm italian teams generally dont do so well in the Uefa/Europa league. Valencia seem strong contenders, Uefa/Europa is always a interesting tournament, lots of surprises happen, which is why i enjoy watching it more then champions league somtimes

    im on Galatasaray 30/1(+2900)

Well, let's look at the groups first of all and see where we stand there. That might give a better opinion on how to place the future bets:

Here are my predictions (minus much explanation for now):
    Group A - Ajax, Anderlecht
    Group B - Valencia, Genoa
    Group C - Hamburger, Celtic
Group D - Hertha Berlin, Sporting
    Group E - Roma, Fulham
    Group F - Galatasaray, Panathinaikos
    Group G - Villarreal, Lazio
    Group H - Fenerbache, Twente
    Group I - Benfica, Everton
Group J - Toulouse, Shankar Donetsk
Group K - PSV Eindhoven, Kopenhagen
Group L - Werder Bremen, Club Bilbao

How does pairing work for the next rounds? I'd be interested in working out a full bracket before I make my futures bets.

hey, i think you're underestimating romanian teams like .... a lot. Twente is not at all better than Steaua. And CFR Cluj has plenty of chances to qualify.

Romanian teams are ones to watch for, there good at home and generlly bring a strong defence to away games, thwy wont be easy. Also i cant see Celtic winning the Europa, they lack quality in all areas of the pitch and did not find a replacment for Nakamura this transfer window.

rangers playing the Uefa Cup Final two years ago was an accident which i dont think will happen again pretty much soon. Therefore, like turkzz says, neighter i see Celtic winning a european trophy

LE : watch one of steaua's best players latest performance, from sunday evening

Mihaita, the few Romanian teams I follow have strong defenses, how about Unirea? do they play similar stye to Cluj? Spanish teams have trouble breaking down teams who play this style but I haven't seen this Unirea team play, how do you rate them?

sorry, i wasn't home....unirea had the best defense last year in our champ....and after they lost to cluj in the 1st round, their play grew match match.. so yes they have good defense and they have a great squad (i want to make it clear....unirea urziceni winning the title WAS NOT an accident; they had an overall better play than dinamo and timisoara) they didnt sell any player, but transfered few great ones.

I think this is my final list:

    Villarreal
    Valencia
    Werder Bremen
    Galatsaray

Throw a unit on each and should turn a nice profit if all goes well. Thoughts?

I like it except Werder Bremen, they arn't as strong this year and lack depth.

    Final Plays:
    Valencia
    Villarreal
    Hamburger
    Galatasaray

All is well except I accidently placed 1 unit on Hamburger twice

Looks like I'll be rooting for Germans this year.

Galatasaray odds to win the competition have already dropped, if anybody has been watching them play they will understand why. I expect the odds to have dropped quite alot by the next stage of the competition.

Cashing a +2900 ticket would be nice. If Galatasaray make it deep into this competition, you have numerous hedging opportunities and will show a profit no matter what. Very sharp investment

if i invested heavy i could of even hedged now for a profit lol, but im sure there go far, and the odds will drop to around +700 to +500 ,
