As stated previously in another thread, this England team is an "under" team as far as I'm concerned. I expect a similar game to the France one, against quality opposition England should struggle to keep possession and I expect them to defend hard, they have a solid back 4 (2 champs league winners in a very defensive-minded team, granted one did not play in the final, lescott and johnson are solid enough). Joe Hart is a great keeper and I expect Gerrard and the midfield to put in a big contribution in the defending effort. Rooney should be backtracking as well quite often. Italy have been a bit more adventurous than one would think but their games have still been low-scoring, well they are Italian after all. Don't expect them to go all out, especially in a knockout game. If one of the 2 teams leads this 1-0 at half-time, I fully expect them to do everything in their power to defend it and we should not see anything different than 1-0/1-1/2-0 (late counter) as a final score. If it's 0-0 at HT, I expect this to stay that way till penalties. Both teams have had their fair share of penalties and extra times over the years and I think this should be no different. If the score is different than 1-0/0-0 at the break, I would be pretty surprised but that would mean my second and third bets would look very good and the under could still be in for a push, 1-1 HT should be a lockdown too, think England/France. Basically, I think whatever the score is, both teams should come out with a more pragmatic approach as the game goes on.

As expected, 0-0 HT did end up staying the same till pens. I thought I was more or less right about the pace of the game slowing down but still got a couple of lucky breaks with balotelli's clumsiness.
