D-Backs at Marlins - Labor Day

    Snakes & Fish - Over

Both of these clubs have been good over teams this year, and we look for more of the same today.

The Marlins have scored 19 runs in their last two games, bringing the record for the over to a lucrative 74-59-3 in all Florida games this season.

Their starter today, Brian Moehler, has been by far the weakest link of what is otherwise a sparkling pitching rotation. Moehler is 7-8 with a lofty 6.04 ERA and a poor 1.60 WHIP for the year, and he has been miserable in his last three starts going 0-3 with a horrific 10.80 ERA and 2.20 WHIP while lasting a total of just 10 innings.

The over is also 70-61-5 in all Arizona games this season, and their starter Enrique Gonzalez is just 3-6 with a 5.42 ERA. He, too, has been knocked around hard in his last three outings, going 0-2 with a 7.63 ERA and an equally poor 1.83 WHIP. The over is also 8-3 in the last 11 head-to-head meetings between these squads, and both teams are ranked in the Bottom 10 in the majors in bullpen ERA, which should mean a few late tack-on runs.

    Play: Over 9½ (-105)

    Marlins -140

    Fish will skin Snakes

Brian Moehler will give the Marlins an edge today over the Diamondbacks in their tilt down in Florida.

Enrique Gonzalez has been pounded heavily when taking to the road, with a 7.65 ERA in his four road tilts. He comes into this game in very poor form allowing 13 earned runs in his last 15.1 innings of work. What makes those numbers even worse is that he was facing weak hitting clubs like the Padres twice and the Giants.

Arizona was in the thick of the pennant race not long ago but they are falling faster than Mel Gibson's career. Arizona has dropped 10 of their last 12 games. Now they take on one of the hottest teams in baseball.

Florida counters with Brian Moehler who comes out of the bullpen today to give Ricky Nolasaco the extra rest. He has pitched well at home since joining the Marlins as it's clear he enjoys this pitcher's park. The Fish have won 11 of their last 13 games and have defeated Arizona here five of seven this season. Expect those streaks to be extended.

    Play: Marlins -140

Suspect arms square off today in Florida with the Diamondbacks and Marlins looking like a nice over.

Brian Moehler has been working out of the bullpen for the Marlins for a reason. The fact is he just doesn't have it.

This season alone Moehler has a 6.04 ERA and a .318 BAA and has struggled each of his last few years at the big league level. In his career, Moehler has also struggled against the Diamondbacks with a .359 BAA in his career. Look for the D-Backs to tee off on him this afternoon.

The Marlins should certainly have no problem matching the D-Backs run for run. Arizona starting pitcher Enrique Gonzalez is just 1-3 on the road this season with a .324 BAA and a 7.65 ERA. Arizona has lost each of his last six outings. Also, Gonzalez struggled in his only start against the Marlins.

Florida has been hot lately and this has been especially true at Dolphins Stadium. This game should easily work itself into a back and forth high scoring affair.

    Play: Over 9½ (-105)

this fish team is amazing this year. it's great to see a team that actually plays team ball that sticks to the fundamentals.
