St. Louis is on the brink of being overtaken by the Cincinnati Reds for the division lead.
Look for them to put forth a nasty performance tonight, and take advantage of the Cubs pitching staff that looks like it's going to labor badly in this spot. Oh man does it look like it's going to be a very ugly weekend for the visiting Chicago Cubs.
The division leading red birds aren't going to be a happy bunch of campers after just getting swept in the Big Apple by the Metropolitans. The closest they came to winning a game was on Tuesday when Albert erupted for seven RBI's, but Carlos Beltran hit a walk off two run bomb to pull off the amazin' comeback win. Juan Mateo takes the bump for the Cubbies this evening, and I've got a funny feeling he's going to have a very short outing this evening. So far he's been decent in his three starts posting a 1-1 mark, but St. Louis beat him last Sunday and have the benefit off seeing him once already. It also doesn't help him that they saw him so recently. The Cards touched him up for two home runs, and should rough him up even more tonight.
Suppan's been a much better pitcher at Busch this season, but that hasn't been the case when under the lights. His ERA is almost double (6.12) at night than that of his overall ERA at home (3.35). The Cubs have had success against him this season scoring 7 runs in the 9 total innings he's pitched against him, so look for the Cubs to contribute to this position as well.
Play: Over 9.5
