I would think about doubling-down on that Southern Illinois pick. The more I think about it the more I like it. In fact, maybe even think about 1.5. I have a feeling that is going to be a 15-point game and another idiotic mistake by me to not grade it more aggressively. Salukis are a good spot tonight.

I also really like your Western Carolina, Syracuse, and Samford plays. Those caught my eye before you released your card today. Nobody knows about W. Carolina, which is why everybody is biting on the 7 points Charleston is getting (especially with their upset over the Tar Heels), Syracuse completely outclasses Georgetown and should roll by double digits, and Samford should take care of a struggling Furman team. Really feeling another solid, positive day from you here my man.

Good luck, and thanks for the plays Ferringo.

I love me some Western Carolina. Anyone that's tracked my plays this year knows I've used them a lot. Unfortunately the books have jacked up their lines over the last few weeks and they are laying like 14, 16 points, etc. to the middle and lower-tier teams in the conference.

The Syracuse game is going to be very close. There is no doubt that Syracuse is a better team. In my opinion either they or Villanova is the No. 1 team in the country (Nova played some better teams so I give them the nod...for now.) But this is still a huge rivalry game and Georgetown is shooting the ball well. That's really all this one is going to come down to: which team makes shots tonight. I think it will be close. But I just thought the books were begging for G-Town money and I've played quite a few of these -6, -7 situations in these marquee games lately and had some success.

I'm nervous about Samford. i should have left that one off the card, to be honest. I do like the spot and I think that a small dog is their best role. And I really wanted to tease this game with one of my other favorites (probably WCU). But I'm trying to phase out those teasers.

I like Idaho. I just have faith. And I really, really, really, really, really like that Southern Illinois play. I should have gone much, much bigger on that. It should have been at least my Game of the Week. But once it' posted I can't take it back. So any out there, hop on it.

We'll see. Small winner or small loser, tonight isn't going to be a big one either way. Would be happy with another winning night and move on.

    Good luck lads.

Shit. I knew I should have teased Samford! (Naturally, as soon as I try to quit with the tease I would have done well with them. I had WCU/SU, Sam/SIU and Sam/WCU. Bastards.

Regardless, my night was going to come down to Idaho one way or another. Go Vandals.

You should come here and "talk your plays out" before you rate them each night, seems like you do some great capping on the board as far as rating each play. Good luck!

Furman was hungry for a win and they squeaked it out tonight. Samford was still not a bad play Ferringo, and no big deal with only half a unit.

I have good vibes dude, and I see Idaho locking up the profitable day.

Good luck my man, and thanks for 2 great picks with Syracuse and Western Carolina.

Believe me, the lat thing I want to do is confer with "forum folk" before making my plays. Too many chefs.

I love talking hoops and prefer when people ask me questions, throw out ideas, or want to talk (constructively) about the plays.

LT, thanks man. I gotta tell you, I do to. I feel like I'm slowly but surely sliding back into that groove and I think we're going to be alright for the last two months. I'm still sick to my stomach about Saturday. I've lost 5x that much before, but it was just the fact that I did some really dumb thing and left some really easy winners off the board. If we had banged that we would have hit six or seven winning nights in a row. I am feeling good even about some of the losses, games that are peppering the number, and a lot of the games that I am leaving off the board are going the way that I capped them, which does frustrate me (the classic, "I KNEW I should have played that one!" second-guessing) but at the same time is giving me a lot of confidence because, like I said, I feel like I have a good read on the field.

But here's a question: do I "go for the gusto" or do I play it conservatively since we are already so far up for the year? That's the conundrum. I mean, if I were talking to my clients directly (and I even posted this back in the first week of Dec.) I would have told them to cash out when we were up over $9,000 in the first five weeks. But I gotta keep playing. It's the job, and always new clients coming on so I owe them my best effort. But I always wonder if I'm playing it right. Should I play to my full season clients and not "take a knee" but play conservatively or should I just rate my plays straight up and look at every day/week like I'm EVEN, which sometimes may run counter to a good long-term view?

Yesterday and today were perfect examples. I should have rated every play at 1- or 1.5 Units, at least. Maybe more. But I've been playing conservative. I feel like I'm going to get hot here, so every night and every morning I'm wrestling with myself about how to play it.

Ah, the life of a pro capper.

Haha, I didn't mean confer with us, I just meant that the posts you make right after you plays are posted seem to tweak the ratings a bit as you get more or less comfortable with you play. Good luck.

Haha. I got you. I try to drop a dime to "my peoples" in here.

When I started in here that's kind of what I figured I could bring to the table: tweak some picks, kick in some freebies, answer some general capping questions, and basically just "talk shop". Not many people in my "real" life are into gambling. Or at least not as much as I am, which kind of goes without saying. So it's nice to have a place where other people are as passionate and get as much enjoyment out of it.

Up 5, with the ball, 38.8 to play, 12 on the shot clock. Bucket here and we're in business.

Hey Rob, I know were talking college hoops right now and have been tailing you all year, I was wondering how you did in MLB last season?? I was lookin on your doc's page and couldn't find a unit total. So what's the final tally for last year?????

Damn. Up 7 with 11 to play and WKU hit the 3. Now we need both FT's for a push...

6.4 seconds to play and I think it's only 1-and-1. Schize.

Dickhead missed the second one. Ugh.

Again though, even our losses are right there for the most part. Not much of a consolation, but whatever. ****ers.

Like I said, it was always going to come down to the Vandals.

And for all those who wonder why I play teasers: tonight is why. To prevent against bad beats. Originally today I was going to play Idaho for 2 and the 3 teasers for 1 apiece. But at the last second I ditched the three teasers and said, "screw it, just play them straight" and this is what happens. Welcome to the hell that is my life! Hahaha!

Drew, I was up around $8,000 in profit for the year. I want to say it was +300 Units. But Units don't mean much the way we grade in MLB. Still, one of my better years.

And two things: I didn't even come CLOSE to maxing out. I was up around $9,200 through about six weeks - kind of like my NCAAB start. Then I went into about a month long firesale - kind of like my NCAAB start. Except in MLB I didn't scale down the Units during the slide like I did in hoops and I ended up giving almost ALL of it back! (Long story. Just stayed stubborn/loyal to my best system and due to a stunning anomaly we bit the dust.) But, again, after that we cleaned up and went back up around $8K. So I actually won 9K, lost about 7500, then won 6500.

The second thing is that from about August on I got REAL conservative with my ratings. I was gearing up for football and after what happened the end of May and June I didn't want to risk a prolonged slide and give it all back again. But if I hadn't clipped my own wings I think I could have topped 10K.

I have to say, I enjoy college hoops the most but MLB is probably my best sport. I have about 12 systems that I use that are just freakin' money. I will not discuss the systems or how I cap, but let's just say that I am amazingly confident that if I cap 20 MLB seasons I'll probably make money in AT LEAST 19 of them, with an Act of God or something accounting for the other. (Almost like two years ago when my daughter was born.)

It's just numbers. It's ALL numbers in MLB and I have just hapend to put together some sweet systems.

(Pitchers and catchers report in just a few weeks too! I'm stoked!)

I was with RF's MLB plays from start to finish last year. He wasn't kidding when he said he galloped to insane profits within a month, then gave them all back, before settling down nicely by year end.

There are a mixture moneyline, run line (i.e. "spread bet"), and total plays.

I would certainly subscribe to RF again this upcoming season, and I certainly hope he has taken some lessons from last season

GDB, no doubt. I was about to do the exact same thing in college hoops, but knew enough to pump the brakes, back down the Unit ratings when we were sliding, and stop the slide. Now I htink I'm on the verge of an upswing and hopefully we'll do what we did in MLB without having to give most of it back.

Also, I don't know if you remember, but the reason we hit the skids is because EVERYONE STOPPED HITTING! I did extensive studies on it and the lack of scoring for about a month in mid-May through almost mid-July was stunning. If the same situation arises this year I won't be as stubborn with my totals system.

Drew, there really is no "spread" in MLB. There is a runline, but you don't have to play that. For the most part it's just picking the winners. While it's not as easy as it sounds still it's nice knowing that you don't have to worry about "backdoors". (Again, unless you play the runline.)

I have systems for sides, totals, runlines, moneyline/runline combos, streaks, underdogs, chases, etc. and to one extent or the other I work them all. (My best systems are my totals systems, IMO.)

I think I'm going to have another great year. That's not popping off, that's just telling it how it is.

Holy shit. If Idaho was even playing DECENT. Not even good - just DECENT on the offensive end they would be up 20. Boise State has 5 points with just under 9 minutes to play in the first half and hasn't scored in nearly 10 minutes and it's a 7 point game. This is seriously ridiculous. Gotta think Idaho loses this one straight up. Boise will go off for about 45 points in the second half.

Not over yet Ferringo. Maybe they can get it together in this second half, and pull it out for us.
