Default Why aren't all D1 college basketball games covered by Vegas?

I went ETSU (East Tennessee State University) and they haven't had a single game covered this year. They have even played some pretty decent teams like UT and Louisville but not even those games were covered. They are 9-9 right now and there are teams out there who have only won 5 games that are still covered by vegas. I was wondering why this was.

Cool Johnnyra, I'm from Johnson City. I don't know either. The most money I've ever bet on a single game was when ETSU almost beat Wake in the first round of the dance as a HUGE dog several years back. If my memory serves me right they lost by 3. About all of Appy St games are lined but most of ETSU are not?

Kids in these schools have 0% chance of making it into the NBA thus making it far too cheap and easy to bribe them to throw games, or at least not cover.

Setting lines also takes research, and time = money, lots of research will have to go into lines that most peeps wont play.

As it is most of the D1 CBB board is a courtesy to customers. The action is 100 to 1 on TV games. I was friendly with a guy who worked the sports book at Las Vegas Club Downtown in the 90's, you know the kook who actually has to put the names of the teams and lines up on the board, and he would complain that 1/3 of the games on a full board don't even get any action on either side.

You say games like UT & Louisville. Vegas considers games like that OFF THE BOARD. They are called blowout games & they would have to set the line so high on the favorite that no one would take it but still wouldn't take the dog +55 either! Just the way it is! Happens in football anytime a FBS school plays a FCS school, with very few exceptions. Vegas considers it more an exhibition match & it usually is. Got to love when Appy St. beat Michigan though!

In my book (Betcris Mexico) The following divisions are not covered.
    America East
Atlantic Sun (Your Team plays here)
    Big South
    Mid Eastern
    Northeast
    Southland
However, they have the conference postseasons covered

The lack of interest in betting on these teams means too much exposure for the books, for too upside. They don't know the teams well enough -- hell, a lot of books don't even like to post totals for major conference games they're so afraid of their vulnerability, or they limit totals to low maximums. If a book is afraid to take a total on the Utah-Oregon State game, they want no part of Directional Midwestern U.
