4 Unit Play. #526 Take Vanderbilt -6 over Florida (12 pm ESPN 2) Vanderbilt has payback on their minds, today as the Gators pounded them twice last year including a 25-point victory in Nashville. The Commodores return all five starters from last year and Florida does not challenge themselves in tough environments during the non-conference portion of the season. That will catch up with them in a big way on Saturday.
7 Unit Play. #530 Take Ole Miss -2 ½ over Mississippi State (1:30 pm ESPN Fullcourt) College Game of the Year. It is the Egg Bowl Basketball style today, at Smith Coliseum when the Bulldogs coming calling. Both teams are off to impressive starts and this should be a battle, but the Rebels have the edge in talent behind five players averaging in double figures. Ole Miss has won eight of their last nine games and needs to open the season with a win at home if they have visions of making the NCAA Tournament. They are catching the Bulldogs at the right moment, since this will be their third straight road game. They are coming off a loss to Western Kentucky and Renardo Sidney, this team lacks that extra scoring punch. The Rebels are 8-0 in Oxford this season and will take care of business this afternoon, as we collect big in the process as well.
4 Unit Play. #562 Take Minnesota -5 over Ohio State (3:30 pm Big 10 Network) The Gophers are coming off a bad performance against Purdue, the top team in the Big 10, but I fully expect them to bounce back in a big way on Saturday. The Buckeyes do have Evan Turner back, but he is not himself yet and did not play very well in limited action against Indiana. Minnesota is always a tough team to beat at the barn and today will be no different, as Westbrook and company get the job done.
4 Unit Play. #600 Take Stanford -4 over UCLA (6 pm FSN) The Bruins are coming off an improbable win at California but I still do not believe they are good enough to this low of a number on the road. The Cardinal have the best player on the floor in Landry Fields and he can win this game for Stanford by himself.
4 Unit Play. #653 Take Gonzaga -2 ½ over Portland (10 pm ESPN U) We will bite on this game, as Gonzaga is the best team in the WCC and the Pilots have cooled off a little bit after a hot start. In fact that impressive win Portland had over UCLA is not really that impressive.
