Like thousands of you, I heard a radio commercial advertising free sports picks so I called the phone number to hear the recorded message. I fell for it and called to get my free pick.
I called on a Thursday afternoon and I should have known there was a problem when the recorded message was from a pick from the previous Monday night football game. (1st Red Flag).
Bill Fritz immediately called me to tell me how fantastic Wayne Root is and how his sports handicapping system was a sure win. Within 20 minutes of talking to Bill the price of their weekly service went from $499 to $204 (2nd Red Flag). I like to bet on sports so I decided to try their service for one week at $204. Bill Fritz was going to be my rep that I could call every day to get advice.
5 minutes after signing up for a 1 week service Vic Macri calls me and tells me he is a manager. He can offer me a fantastic deal for 10 weeks of service for football and basketball. (3rd Red Flag) The normal price for both sports is $20,000 but he can offer me the deal for around $2,000. Another 10 minutes on the phone the price dropped from $2000 to $1,600 and he said he would buy back my original week of $204. (4th Red Flag) By the way I never got back my $204 that I was told would be bought back.
I don't know what I was thinking but it all did start to sound good. I was told their No Limit picks are winning at 82%. (They have 4 levels of picks and the No Limit is the best of the picks) I agreed to 10 weeks at $160 per week. Dumb move on my part.
After week one their picks were 3 wins and 11 losses. Bill actually calls me to try and sell me on another deal. I told him he must be joking and that one week into their service they are picking less than 20% winners and I could flip a coin and probably do better. No upsell was made. That was the last time I heard from Bill so Vic was calling me to give me the daily picks. I expressed my displeasure with their service and wanted to renegotiate my 10 week agreement. Vic said no and ask said "What kind of scum are you". I told him that I was going to post my opinion of their service on this website and was then told that "I didn't want Wayne's lawyers after me" by Vic. I received picks from Vic for one more week and then was given a different person to call me named Landon. He claims to be in a 'recovery' department that I guess is supposed to help out people who have not been doing well. Landon gave me a different phone number to call. So far I can only reach him about every other day. So much for the personal service. Landon actually told me that for my service I should only be listening to an answer machine to get picks. I was also told that Bill (my original rep) may no longer be with their company. After 34 of his picks he is 10 wins and 24 losses.
At the end of week 6 the company was no longer in business. No phone calls from then and no phone calls to their numbers worked.
I know I'm an idiot for actually paying for this service (or scam) but what's done is done for me. This is a true story and I'm still in the middle of it but feel free to send your comments about Wayne Root and his sports handicapping service and I'll post them on the site.

Also be aware of Dennis Mackland and his crew. I tried a one week offer for $100. On the third day I received a call from their rep Greg, who said he represents Dennis Mackland who tried to sell me on a $3500 package. I said no at that time and told him I wanted to finish our my 1 week before making any decisions. At the end of the week I received a call from Greg who cursed me tried to degrade me. My advice for anyone is to don't trust anyone in this business.

Why are you posting that bullshit?? Root was 5-1 yesterday, 7-3 the past 2 days.

What proof do you have that it's real? It sounds like BULLSHIT, because they DO'T cal you to give picks!!!

    GARBAGE WesleySnipes!!

I've been playing with Root since early November and I'm up +16K.

yea, this is some BS right here. If you look at his plays, they don't match up with what Root gave out on those particular days. So either you are full of garbage, or you are really getting scammed. Do some research and you will see that the plays you were betting weren't Root's plays that they gave out. I am not a fan of Root either, but they are doing good as of recently.

Anyone can do good over a few mth period. But the true handicappers profit year in, and year out. 99.9 % of handicappers make more money selling their picks vs playing their picks.

Your BS article say "company is no longer in business"

Root has had the same company for over 20 years...

What credentials is the article from, what proof that it's real...because it smells & sounds like BS. I followed Root for years, and he's always on the + side at the end of the year.

    wesley....here's the deal

wayne sold his company a while back....it was on the stock exchange and basically not worth a penny...in fact i think the price was a penny!!.....when he sold to a european company he was released from honoring any future picks to people who had lost a game that he guaranteed and promised picks to for the rest of the century...theres a poster here...goldengreek....who can also verify this because that happened to him.....

he was not going to be in the business any more because he wanted to be in politics and be the next president!!!...lol....that didnt work out so well so he went back to handicapping...

however the european company took his name and pictures and opened a website called root to win..... this is when all the star rated plays were being released and why you see the how the match to his vegas legend mill bill no limit etc..
these guys are a total scam....have reps and will upsell and so forth......stay away from these guys...wayne has tried to stop them in court but he cannot.....they have the correct plays but had to use a star rating so as not to get into trouble.....

if u have roots service on winningedge you will only deal with one guy and his name is hollis....no boilerroom office or salesman just one guy....he emails/texts all the plays... no need to call in or anything like that..

    heres what i got today

VegasLegend--Michigan State + Millionaires--Northern Illinois + Billionaires--Mississippi - *Bowl Favorite of the Year No Limit--East Carolina + *Bowl Underdog of Year

    good luck

Not sure how old this is from but Bill Fritz is the name of a boiler room rep from the Jim Feist crew who called me 7+ YEARS AGO. I remember him calling up - "I'm lookin' for the sports man....this is Bill Fritz from Jim Feist Sports..."

Hey all you guys sucking Root's balls need to back off of Snipes--I know first hand everything he wrote is 1000% accurate. I could have written the exact same article almost word for word!!!!! I heard the ad on the ESPN and thought it was legit, called in and .......got SCAMMED. My reps were Vic and when I complained about the terrible picks from the so called professional I would deal with his "boss" John. I challenge anyone to track his picks over weeks and months and I will guarentee he will be losing. NOBODY will win money over any period of time with Roots picks.

If you guys want to keep playing them go ahead-the numbers don't lie--there have been several people posting his record lately and it is not good even if you are getting the picks for free from this forum, Its even worse for whoever is paying for his service then losing money on his plays. I don't care if he had a good day yesterday, shit even Lang went 4-0 yesterday. Root is all about hype and marketing.

You people can put your money on whoever you want, and if you want to follow someone with no credibility and a true vegas scamdicapper like Root go ahead. But don't bust someones balls for trying to help someone else from getting scammed by guys like this. In my opinion this forum is for everyone to share information to win money, and to prevent people from losing money.

Root has had a great year. For his career though he is down big time and is one of the all time pathological lying scumbags in the handicapping business.

Roottowin.com which operates a boiler room sales office is located in NY. I believe they either pay Root a fee monthly or yearly to use his name as a sales office. Root also does some call ins as I heard him earlier this year on a Baltimore sports talk station pitching the website and his over the top winning percentages. I don't think Root losses any sleep over what these scumbags in NY say on the phone or do with that website as he ran a boiler room operation in Las Vegas for about 10 years that was always getting complaints filled with the Better Business Bureau. He ran that room into the ground and eventually closed it because they were losing more money than they were making.

    Predator,

It seems like you have more info than most on this topic and my objective is not to argue with people. My point is-- alot of people have been scammed by Root.

My package was through winning edge and if he is trying to "start over" and clear his name and reputation he should honor the packages people purchased that were scammed.

Additionally, this discussion proves the point people are trying to make--in that there are people who are getting picks from Root that are claiming to win money AND people who are getting plays from Root that are losing as much as those are claiming they won. There have been posts on this forum where the picks Root has put out have been disputed.

    Who do you believe?

There have been times I called his office and they gave out both sides of the same game!!!!! This happened several times!! I have also spoke with (via email and forums like this) several other clients of Roots packages who had similiar experiences.

I personally don't even get the picks from Root anymore even though they are bought and paid for--I've been a member with him for several years and have lost alot of money playing his plays!!

    Brocc--

if you are up $16,000 using Root--good for you!!! I don't know how long you've been using his picks but if I were you I would take the $$$$ and run--any winning streak he is on will not last--trust me.

The only point I'm trying to make is to save someone money not to get scammed by Root or someone claiming to be working for him.

3-0 so far today. So far his bowl picks have been spot on. Like you said, I don't care who is running his office. As long as the picks keep being winners I'll follow for a little while.

Not exactly sure how you see it as 3-0, at least for the Bowl games. He was 2-1 before the Alamo Bowl and he ended at 2-2 for the day. Not a terrible day if you went heavy on his GOY picks (2-0), but still the day was 2-2.

If one grades ones picks, and the two highest win, the two lowest lose, that should generally be considered a good day.
