Over an 82-game regular season schedule, there’s bound to be a few nights where one team gets embarrassed. Saturday was one for the Dallas Stars. The Stars, missing their captain Brenden Morrow and starting goalie Marty Turco, lost 4-1 to the Colorado Avalanche.
It was Dallas’ six loss in its last seven road games and, even more troubling, the top line finished with a combined minus-10 rating.
“We’ve got to have people play a little bit harder and not take lightly the fact that you are generating chances, but you're not getting dirty,” Stars coach Marc Crawford told the Dallas Morning News.
“To score goals in this league, it's really hard. You've got to go to the hard areas. You've got to go to the front of the net and you've got to pay a price, and our guys can do a better job of that for sure.”
Taking the red-hot Hawks on the road is normally the best strategy. The odds are much better and Chicago is 7-3 in its last 10 away dates.
Pick: Blackhawks
Pittsburgh Penguins at Buffalo Sabres (-110, 5.5)
The Buffalo Sabres are playing a dangerous brand of hockey these days. The club is 2-1-1 over its last four games but it has been outshot 149-110 over the same stretch.
The lack of discipline in their defensive end could come back and bite the Sabres. Pittsburgh’s power play is 4 for 10 over the last two games.
It might be a good opportunity to take the over with Pens backup goalie Brent Johnson expected to get the start.
i post them myself everyday, there very solid. always have 2 picks, have only lost both picks a few times...you gotta kinda come up with your own money management for these guys though, thats the only problem they dont rate plays. good luck
