3-Unit Play #501 Take Philadelphia/Washington OVER 206 (7 p.m. EST, Tuesday)
These two teams met about a month ago and the total reached 215. Neither team shot close to 50% in that game and actually Philly shot only 40%, well below their season average. What that means is that there were a lot of attempts made in that game and that is how we think this one will play out again and if these teams can get hot since both defenses are pretty bad then this one could go well over the posted number. Both teams scoring has been up (above 100, for an average) in their last five games and Washington has given up an average of 110 PPG in their last five contests. Four straight meetings and six out of the last seven have gone over the posted total.
4-Unit Play #505 Take Indiana/Boston UNDER 201 ½ (7:30 p.m. EST, Tuesday)
First, this one could likely be a blowout and that would bode well for an under when the number is above 200 as the team in the lead could slow the game down and also the intentional fouling could be eliminated. Also, these two teams played once and Indiana shot over 50 percent from the floor AND from three-point land. Just don’t see that happening again against the No. 1 defensive team in the league. Indiana hasn’t been playing that well on offense and they have only reached the Century Mark three times in their last 10 games. We think the Celtics will get their points tonight but we just don’t think Indiana will get close to 100.
3-Unit Play #513 Take LA Clippers/Houston UNDER 194 (8:30 p.m. EST, Tuesday)
Both teams are trending towards the under as the Clippers have gone under in 11 of 15 while the Rockets have gone under in 9 of their last 12. The Clippers have been playing some strong defense although that is not immediately evident in their recent numbers as they gave up 100+ in two recent games to the Spurs as well as an OT game against Philly (they held them under 100 in regulation). Houston has been pretty good on defense too and we think their recent numbers have been a bit skewed by up-tempo clubs. Think this one could probably wind up in the 180s as we just don’t see a barnburner here .
