I decided to buy the play from covers. They have The Prez and Smart on the UNDER.
Your pick will be graded at: 56.5 WSEXEXPERT: Alex SmartTITLE: Smart's 6* MNF Total of the Week (83% run!)REASON FOR PICK: Monday Night Football heads to the Bayou, and even though both the New England Patriots and the New Orleans Saints have the ability to light up the scoreboard, the oddsmakers have inflated this line beyond belief, making the 'under' easy pickings!
We'll start with the Pats... Memories of that 35-34 game against Indy are easy to point at. However, if you throw that game out, look at what New England has done defensively of late. They allowed 14 to the Jets, 17 to the Dolphins, 7 to the Bucs, and shutout the Titans. In fact, the only team to score more than 24 points on this defense all year was Indianapolis. Sure, the Saints have a better offense that all of those teams that I just listed off, but New Orleans hasn't faced a defense this good all season either.
When the Saints did run across a defense with the tendencies of New England this year, the Jets held them to 24 points, seven of which came via a pick-six. New Orleans may be averaging 36.9 points per game this year, the top such mark in the NFL, but a defense allowing just 20.4 points per game is middle-of-the-road. Holding New England in the low-mid 20s is a very real possibility.
The number in this game is just too inflated. Asking any two NFL teams to throw more than eight touchdowns on the board in a game is a wee ridiculous, even if these are two of the best offenses in the NFL. Don't look for this to be the easiest 'under' cash in the world, but looking at a 28-23 type of final score is a very real possibility and a comfortable result for us. Book it!!!
