Thus, I believe that the Vegas oddsmakers lowered the opening line 3 points (from 12.5 to 9.5), and dropped the total 6.5 points (from 199.5 to 193). The betting public then bet the game line up to 10 and up to 196 on the total.

In this spot, the guys in Vegas like the Bulls: Lower the line to 9.5; the betting public sees Gasol in the lineup and thinks that number is much too low; and in response, bangs it up to as much as 12.5 before game-time; the Bulls keep it close; and Vegas wins again!
