Pick: Point Spread: 1/115 Denver Broncos

Denver’s defense has been outstanding all season long and statistically the Broncos own the best defense in the NFL. So for them to be getting points on their home field is simply too good to pass up. The Broncos have allowed a grand total of just 33 points in their three home games this season while going a perfect 3-0 straight-up and against the spread. Overall, their defense allows only 14 points per game (versus teams that average 22 ppg). They allow just 3.4 yards per rush (versus teams that average 4.2 ypr) and only 5.8 yards per pass attempt (versus teams that average 6.7 yppa). The Broncos are allowing just 4.7 yards per play (versus teams that average 5.6 yppl). Denver also has their home field edge back this year as well. They’ve out-scored their opponents 64-33 and have out-yarded them by 390 yards (1210-820). Denver has only been a home underdog 5 times over the last 5 years and they’ve gone 4-1 straight-up and against the spread in those games. That includes winning twice in that role already this year, 17-10 over Dallas (+3) and 20-17 over New England (+3). Pittsburgh enters this game off their bye week, so they’ve had 15 days to get ready. But they’ve already proven that they are not as strong a team as they were a season ago. The Steelers are playing below average football on offense in their road games. They average just 21 points per game (versus teams that allow 24 ppg). They run for only 96 yards on 4.1 yards per rush per game (versus teams that allow 118 rypg on 4.3 ypr). The Steelers have yet to cover a game away from Heinz Field. They are just 1-2 straight-up and 0-3 against the spread on the road with the win coming over lowly Detroit. Pittsburgh hasn’t played a road game for nearly a month (Oct. 11th), and laying points against the league’s best defense is a tall task for the Steelers tonight. With the Broncos off a blowout loss at Baltimore last week, expect Denver to bounce back with a solid effort on their strong home field this evening.

Play BRONCOS (+).
