John Fina's Free College Football Selection

Selection: Arkansas -7 (-110)
Reason: Put us down on Arkansas -7 for our Free College Football Selection on Saturday. Today South Carolina will be on the road as they take on Arkansas. We will lay the points with Arkansas! It is alleged that the Gamecocks are a solid defensive team, however as the year moves forward the numbers are telling a different story. Over the last four games, South Carolina’s run defense has allowed 205, 264, 141 and 199 rushing yards at an average of 6.9 yards per carry. In addition, over their last 3 games the Gamecock offense has managed to score only 13, 14 and 6 points. South Carolina has become depleted and as they travel again for their second straight week, Steve Spurrier’s crew will face an opponent that is ranked top in the SEC at 6.8 yards per play as well as 2nd for total scoring offense. The Razorbacks have scored a minimum of 40 points in all of their 4 home games. While Arkansas has the worst statistically ranked defense in the SEC, the truth is that their schedule has been an extremely tough one facing Florida, Auburn, Alabama and Ole Miss; four of the leagues top tiered offenses. The Razorbacks have the SEC’s top ranked passing attack led by QB Ryan Mallet with almost 270 yards per game with more than 9.0 yards per pass attempt and an 18-to-3 TD-to-INT ratio. Arkansas needs this game for their bowl hopes so expect them to let loose both through the air and on the ground. Lay the points! Take Arkansas -7!
