Default Parlay Advantage?

Can anyone enlighten me as to the advantage of laying a parlay bet.
A $100 three team parlay pays a return of 600.00. A $500 profit.
If I bet team one at $100 and win I have $200 and bet game 2 win and have $400.00 to bet on game three where a third win gives me $800 that total minus my orignal $100. shows a $700 profit so why would I bet a parlay. Or am I missing something...........

Hey Jameson/Jack Daniels... You're math is correct, some even say "Parlays are for suckers". Others will tell you both of these methods won't work, money management is the key to long term profits. Never play the double up game etc...

Hope this helps and happy drinking!

Yea the juice and the games all have to be at seperate times, later then the last game, but yea its a good point if the games are all far apart. But once again your laying juice and you have to win three seperate bets either way, not to mention line movement as you get closer to game time as well...

Juice is only added to the numbers if he loses, in his example juice was a non-factor.

well regardless of how you look at it you're risking an extra $70 in order to get to the same ending #, whether or not thats a factor is up to you...

Dimes, the most juce you can risk is $40.00 on the last gane if you won the first two the juce is not paid and if you lost one of those you lost juce of 10 or 20.

I agree that the double up is bad if you are loosing but many players and gamblers press when up on house coin. Like at a crap or BJ table you like to press when hot and back off when cold. If one decides to risk 100 to a parlay than doubling up is going to happen wheather the book does it or you do it to complete the parlay. Thanks for your input.

As a last thought what brought this to mind was many years ago in California I had a bookie who paid the true odds that is if you bet a three teamer with a hundie he hit you with a eight ball on the win. No juce ever traded on parlays. I was just a once in awhile bettor and when he died I never looked for a book and only bet light on sports when I visited Vegas to play poker. Now I live in Vegas half a year and have been more into it.

Thanks for the input all.
