The Redskins needs this game or else they may have a new coach when the resume games on November 8th. Jim Zorn has been striped of his play calling ability and in come Sherman Lewis, a coach that had success with the Green Bay Packers during the 1990s. It is hard to figure that the Eagles deserve to be this big of a favorite since they just lost to the Oakland Raiders. The dog is usually the strong play on Monday Night and the talent on these teams is much closer to a pick’em game then it is a 7-point road favorite. I do believe that Coach Zorn is liked by his players and I believe they will put forth an all-out effort this week to try and save his job. Washington quiets the critics for one week with an impressive victory at Fed Ex Field. Washington 21, Philadelphia 20.
He might be right about the play (even though I'm on PHI -7), but that is some piss poor reasoning. Zorn has already lost his job. It's just a matter of when the hammer falls. If that was going to be motivation for the Skins it would have happened before it was too late. Besides, this is the NFL. This "players playing for the coach's job" is just some garbage to fill space in a writeup.
He also talks about Sherm Lewis calling plays now as if it's a good thing. It's not necessarily a good thing to have hired a guy that has been out of football for 4 years (retired) to come in off the street and start calling your plays 2 weeks later. What does that say about the coach (Zorn) that you think the players will finally come out and "try" to win for. Just stupid, easy, simple-minded analysis in my opinion.
The bottom line here is the Redskins offensive line is one of the worst in football. They can't get a push for the running game, they can't give Campbell time in the pocket, and when they do he is too indecisive to do anything with it. The Skins are just putrid right now and it doesn't matter how bad they "want" to win, they just don't have the horses or braintrust to do it tonight.
Gotta agree with Jello here. I try to understand how the Eagles lost to the Raiders and it must have been the Westbrook injury. Not sure. But if you ignore the trends, Philly looks statistically much better and it's funny how Doc didn't mention that this is a revenge game for the Eagles. He loves those silly points of view, but I guess that would conflict with this one.
