NY ISLANDERS +1.25 over Carolina (REG) Pinnacle
The Islanders remain one of two winless but team morale is still good and they’re very much on the verge of a win. They’ve gone to OT three times already and a closer looks reveals a schedule that’s been as tough as anyone’s. In fact, the Islanders have already played Boston, Pittsburgh, Ottawa, L.A., Buffalo and San Jose and with the exception of the talented Bruins, all of those teams are above .500 or well above .500. Now the Islanders will take a huge step down in class when they face these beatable Canes. Carolina is winless on the road in three tries and has been outscored 14-4 in those games. Only once this season has the Canes scored more than twice in a game and that was against the Panthers upon Florida’s return from overseas. The Hurricanes are loaded with grinders and guys at the end of their careers and might just be the most beatable team in the league. They’ll win gamers based on hard work and experience but as far as talent goes, it’s not pretty. The Islanders are young and they’re going to just get better with each passing game. They want to win badly and there’s really not a lot of pressure on them to do so. They have a great chance to get off the mattress here and the take-back on them is great, as the Canes will very likely not be this high a favorite on the road for the rest of the year. Play: NY Islanders +1.25 (Risking 2 units).
