SAN DIEGO -3½ +1.06 over Denver PINNACLE
Yes indeed, the Broncos are on absolute fire but there’s a price to pay when you’re wagering on a team whose stock is about as high as it can get. This line opened at –4 and it’s been dropping ever since, meaning that the “sharpies” and/or the public are all over the Broncos. That’s your first red flag. Besides that, one really has to question just how good these Broncos really are. They own this year’s flukiest win, which came in week one when they put up a prayer on the last play of the game to beat the Bengals 12-7. They then went on to beat Cleveland and Oakland before beating Dallas at home 17-10 and New England at home 20-17. The latter two were nice wins but that was two games that easily could’ve gone either way, as they trailed in both late in the game and in reality these Broncos could be 2-3 with wins over Oakland and Cleveland. Now they’ll take the road on a Monday night prime time game and that’s a whole different animal. The Chargers stock is low after a 2-2 record to open the year and after losing 38-28 in Pittsburgh in its last game. That score is a little flattering and a little misleading as well, as Pittsburgh opened up a huge lead and faded in the fourth. However, by that time most people were already in bed and what they saw was a Chargers team that was shredded. This host is traditionally a slow starter and that fourth quarter was a huge momentum builder. The Chargers are coming off a bye and you know for sure they’ll be completely jacked up for this one. Then we have Philip Rivers vs Kyle Orton and that is a mismatch. Rivers had over 4000 yards last season to go along with 34 TD’s and just 11 picks. Again, Orton’s stock is high, as is the Broncos while the Chargers stock remains low. The best time to step in on a team is when everyone is buying and that’s precisely the situation here. Everyone expected the Broncos to get exposed two weeks ago against Dallas and last week vs New England. Those that did, missed out on the Broncos and now is the time to go against them. Play: San Diego –3½ +1.06 (Risking 2 units).
