I'm not sure what the big problem is here with someone using this forum to post their overall plays, especially when their plays are possibly mixed between the various sports. Are we seriously going to have some squabble because some poster isn't charging for their picks somewhere?

The way I see it is if you don't like a particular poster/capper in this forum, then don't read their threads.

Actually, I was hoping you would take some action. I know what my position is. Perhaps this will provide a unique avenue for some posters to gain some credibility. There are a lot of "service play" forums out there and there should be a standard---none allow just anyone to throw their picks on the board.

With the way these cappers are doing, I'm thinking about posting my own plays too. Since I have always been a reader and poster on this forum, I just feel more comfortable doing it here. But I will follow the rules of this forum...so I'll go with whatever Willie says.

We all love PTJ, but in the end whatever we come up with will have to apply to ALL cappers or ALL posters.

I told ITH in a PM earlier that I'm more than happy to have this forum be what y'all want it to be (to a certain degree, I guess). So let me pose a couple of scenarios...

1) Should it ONLY be for cappers who sell picks (in addition to possibly offering free selections)?

2) Can it be for cappers who only provide free selections through another website?

Currently all Dice It Up picks are free, I don't want to abuse the site, should our picks not be here? Last year we won a lot of people money in NFL. We are trying to get revenue through traffic and not necessarily having to go full tout.

Surely there's a way to distinguish between a website that actually does have a "we" and a poster posting his personal plays.

I don't know the solution, but I do think there should be some kind of restriction.

As I said to Willie earlier I think that if just any member is allowed to post their plays in this particular forum then it becomes just another forum and ultimately defeats the main scope of why this "service plays" forum was ever created. And of course there's the clutter factor when you're actually trying to find that one play you're looking for and you can't. I'm a member of a few sites with forums and the norm everywhere else is that if you're posting your own plays/opinions then you post them in the respective forum (NCAAF, NFL, MLB, etc.).

This place will turn into Covers.com in no time. You use to be able to go on there and get some good insight from people who knew what they are doing. Now you have to sit there and read through 5000 pages of worthless banter and crap just to hear from people whos opinions you respect. It is a service plays forum. Although this isn't my website and I am not going to tell anyone how to do their jobs , why not rename it to , "Some guy who nobody knows service plays"

On the same hand , Willie is right. If you don't like it , don't read it. It is like listening to the radio. Just simply skip by the station and go to the one you like. The only problem with that is if 10 wanna be paid cappers start posting their plays everyday you are going to have to go thru pages and pages and pages to find , just for example , Ben Burns play.... Then you click on that and it is some guy asking if anybody has it , yet nobody had replied. So......You keep going thru BS and BS until you finally find it. In the long run people will get annoyed and move onto the next website with the same premise.

Some good thoughts and comments here as well as from Topher via PM. And like I said earlier in this thread, I'm all for making this forum work best for the readers. All I need is for y'all to agree on what defines 'a service.' Does it include the sites that only give out free picks or opinions about games, or is it strictly those cappers/sites that provide 'premium' or 'pay picks?'

It's semantics.....I think everyone is here is smart enough to know that when we are talking service related plays from premium cappers that we are talking about the people who are well known throughout the industry who have made a living doing this for years....Yes , we could say I could start a website up fro $ 10 and now I am person who sells his plays but that is rediculous. If you are someone who likes to gamble a little bit and has been doing so for a long time you know who they are and you know who we are talking about. Her for all I know this kid posting his plays everyday could be the real deal. But who the hell in the right mind will lay there hard earned money on some guy they have never heard of ? If you do you deserve to lose.

Good Discussion. Don't forget about the poster who asks what "-14" means. Just looking out for the Newbie who sees "service play" and say to himself "this guy must be good". As Topher suggested, they may deserve to lose but we were all there at one time or another.

im guessing that this fourm may have got started because of me or at least is refering to me.. i apologize if i am pissing anyone off, im sure you know why i started the picks, i do post the pros on here all the time for people and i think one post a day with my picks are fair game for the work i do. im actually up right now and im not getting paid or expecting people to play my plays but just to look if they want and see that a average joe can do it and better than most pros. i like to post on this service plays because everyone knows the pros here and they compare me if they want. you know who i am and if see my post you dont have to read if you dont want, but i have noticed hundreds of people are reading my posts and picks. i hope that i can keep to post as long as im doing good, if i tank i will stop and admit im not that good. thanks for your time

also just because people know the names such as professionals that dont mean they are good. look at lang he is popular but sucks. everyone has to start somewhere.
