MLB Revenge Game of the Month

Angels vs. Red Sox
Play: LA Angels

The Halos are a huge money-making 10-3 as an underdog of +150 or more the past two seasons, with all but one of those games coming on the road, but that’s not even the half of it. The team is a perfect 10-0 since the start of the ’08 season after a game where they had 17 or more hits. They are 12-2 off a game where the bullpen blew a save this season. They are 18-5 off BB losses and 16-6 playing with double revenge. After a loss by two runs or less, they are 41-19 the last two seasons and are 29-12 this year one game removed from scoring eight or more runs. Yes, they draw Josh Beckett, off his first decent showing in a month, but note that Beckett went only five innings (rain-shortened game) in that win over Tampa Bay and owns a weak 7-12 team start record after allowing one earned run or less in his previous start. Beckett has had major problems with the home run ball and as you know the Angels can hit the cover off the ball. Since the All-Star Break, he has an ERA of 4.65, which isn’t inspiring. Also, since beating LA in Game 1 of the 2007 ALDS, Beckett has gone 0-3 with a 7.03 ERA in four starts against them (all Boston losses). The Angels are +$815 vs. righties overall this season. Starter Ervin Santana has been much more solid in the second half than his numbers would seem to indicate as he finally seems to be recovered from his earlier injuries. In his last three starts, his ERA is 3.37. LA Angels are our MLB Revenge Game of the Month.
