Take the Blue Jays over the the Twins in Toronto Monday afternoon. The Twins have been struggling on offense, hitting just .259 as a team and scoring 3.1 runs per game over their last 7 contests. They've struggled on the road all season, posting a 29-38 record, not to mention an 0-6 record at Toronto over the last 3 seasons. Scott Richmond starts for the Blue Jays, and while he doesn't have great numbers, he has put together several quality starts this season, and his low WHIP and solid K/BB ratio make him a good starter to back in the right situations. The Twins throw Jeff Manship, a guy who has decent numbers, but who has just one start (5 innings) and a few relief appearances (12 innings total this year). Toronto's offense has struggled of late, but they do have a potent line up and should pick up the win over Minnesota this afternoon.
Sorry for being late, didn't think he was gonna release one.
15* on Cincinnati Bearcats +4.5
Take Cincinnati over Rutgers Monday afternoon in the Big East opener for both teams. The Bearcats are coming off of an 11-3 season, and despite losing 10 of 11 starters from their defense, they should contend for the Big East title again. Their success will rely heavily on their offense, particularly the play of quarterback Tony Pike, who played the final 7 games of last season with a broken (non-throwing) arm. He has some very talented receivers to throw the ball to, and now that he is healthy, he should put up some pretty lofty numbers over a full season of play. Rutgers loses to much on offense for me to consider them a real contender in the Big East this season. They lost both QB Mike Teel and WR Kenny Britt, a pair who connected for over 1,300 yards and 7 touchdowns last season. While I do think the Scarlet Knights will have a successful running game this season with most of the offensive line back for 2009, I do not think they have enough firepower to keep up with Cincinnati tonight.
