Crystal Ball

2 ** TULSA (-7) first half.

Crystal Ball took a shot on the chin last night as UTAH failed to cover for us after dominating across the board. When I last looked they had turned the ball over three times and just couldn't overcome those mistakes. They won easily, but failed to cover. This ain't horseshoes, this ain't hand grenades...........I'm paid to deliver winners, and I had a rare miss last night.
Let's get back to continuing one of the greatest runs in the industry(12-3) with an easy victory in the BIG EASY. My wife went to Tulane, so this is hard for me to say, but they have NO chance at all of winning this game. Look for the Golden Hurricane to get out quick and not look back.
The GREEN WAVE, while a personal favorite of mine, continues to suffer on the recruiting front due to Katrina and has failed to commit the necessary dollars to the program. Their mistake? They continue to value education over athletics.
Remember, I don't say it unless I play it.
Crystal Ball is out!

1st ever 4**** Star

Auburn -13.5 -110 for Game

I have had my eye on this game for several weeks. The more I study it the more I love it.
The last time Auburn took the field they lost 36-0 to Alabama. What a bad taste to live with all year. They are so ready to get on the field and hit someone, anyone, just give me someone to play. You got it. LA Tech, is coming to town. I would hate to be LA Tech. Auburn has so many new things this year. One of which is Gus Malzahn the OC. Watch out Wild Cat. Kodi Burns is the perfect QB for the Wild Cat. (Both Burns and Malzahn are from Arkansas, which is where I am also from) This game will be over in the 1st Qu and so will the spread. Watch for Auburn to burn it up (no pun intended). The SEC vrs WAC and only 13.5 points?? You can't be serious. I will give them -13.5 and jump on it.

Enjoy the game (ESPN-U)

2** Tulsa -13 1/2 -110 for Game

I like Tulsa a lot so I'm on it before it hits 14. Tulsa finished last year with a 11-3 record. They finished the season with the drumming of Ball State 45-13 in a bowl game. I realize they have lost their Offensive Cordinator Gus Malzahn who I have personally known a long time, (yep, he's an Arkansas boy) and by the way, I will have a BIG play on Saturday with Auburn, that’s where Gus is now commanding his offence. Gus is a one in a kind. He is actually the one who invented the "Wild Cat" formation which was once used when he was a High School Coach and is now used in the NFL) Enough about Gus, he's no longer there, but while at Tulsa he was under head coach Todd Graham. Graham is also an offensive guru and loves to mix it up. Tulsa did loose their QB and Graham has kept it quite who he will give the nod to. Most think it will be Kinne, the sophomore transfer from Texas.

They return 3 very good receivers including Damarius Johnson who led conf USA with 2475 all purpose yards for 176.8 per game. He also had 1382 yards returning kicks.

Tulane only had 2 wins last season and I don’t see this season getting much better. One of their major problems last year was Defense. Here are a few of their last few match-ups:

11/22/08 TULNE 7 - TULSA 56 TULSA

11/03/07 TULSA 49 - TULNE 25 TULSA

11/24/06 TULNE 3 - TULSA 38 TULSA

11/19/05 TULSA 38 - TULNE 14 TULSA

I see no reason why Tulsa wont cover the spread this year.
