Ferringo 8/28
Ferringo
5-Unit Play. Take #952 Chicago Cubs (-1.5, -120) over N.Y. Mets (2 p.m., Friday, Aug. 28)
Note: This is my Game of the Month.
Mets have long been cooked. And I know that the Cubs really haven’t been playing any better than a second-rate team, but they are still leaps and bounds above the Mets. The Cubs just dropped two of three at home to the Nationals. But I watched those games and the Nats just played really good baseball. It wasn’t that the Cubs were bungling things. The Mets are coming off a rare blowout win yesterday so it’s a good spot to fade them in. New York is 3-12 against left-handed pitching and are rolling out a weak, weak lefty starter of their own. The Cubs are 35-16 at home against southpaws and 23-6 at home behind Ted Lilly. Lilly has had one bad outing – a rough start at Philly – but other than that he has rolled out five of six starts allowing two runs or less. Since coming back from an injury earlier this month Lilly has had two strong starts, giving up just two runs in 12 innings, both on the road. Lilly has had some success in his career against the Mets and the Cubs are 12-5 against New York in Wrigley.
Patrick Misch was picked up off the scrap heap by the Mets – like most of their team. He had a 10.80 ERA for San Fran this year before coming to New York. With the Mets he has just a 2.89 ERA as a reliever. But he’s allowed 18 hits and 10 walks in 18 innings. That’s awful. And because he’s been relieving if he allows inherited runners to score they don’t hurt his ERA. Misch is 0-8 in his career. That means he’s never earned a win. He has faced the Cubs three times and has a 7.36 ERA against them. And in his two trips to Wrigley he is sporting a 10.12 ERA with three runs allowed in less than three innings.
The Mets are going with Daniel Murphy (.262, 7 HR), Jeff Franceour (.269, 11 HR) and Cory Sullivan (.284, 0 HR) as their 3-4-5 right now. It’s not their fault; injuries have crippled this team. But the bottom line is that they aren’t any good right now. And as poorly as the Cubs have been playing the group of Derek Lee, Alfonso Soriano, Aramis Ramirez, Milton Bradley and Co. should absolutely have their way with New York today.
1.5-Unit Play. Take #978 L.A. Angels (-150) over Oakland (10 p.m., Friday, Aug. 28)
1-Unit Play. Take #962 St. Louis (-1.5, +120) over Washington (8 p.m., Friday, Aug. 28)
1-Unit Play. Take #974 Boston (-1.5, -115) over Toronto (7 p.m., Friday, Aug. 28)
1-Unit Play. Take #966 San Francisco (-125) over Colorado (10 p.m., Friday, Aug. 28)
Today’s Totals
0.5-Unit Play. Take ‘Under’ 9.0 Washington at St. Louis (8 p.m., Friday, Aug. 28)
1-Unit Play. Take ‘Under’ 9.0 San Diego at Florida (7 p.m., Friday, Aug. 28)

What a freak.
Well, I hate to call a game in the fourth inning, but I can already tell that my Game of the Month (Cubs -1.5 over Mets) is a loser. It's 1-1 now, but it should already be about 4-0. But after Milton Bradley's pathetic drop, Angel Pagan's falling catch and Alfonso Soriano's drop (he literally just dropped the ball out of his glove on a routine pop fly) I've seen enough. This is the type of $h*t that my big plays are always doomed to; it's just a joke. But I guess it's better than going up 8-1 in the seventh inning and losing like in May or being up 10-1 in the seventh and losing like in June. Those were a blast.
(Quick prediction: the Cubs are going to go up 3-1 or 4-2 in this game. They will then give up a run in the top of the eighth inning to blow our runline, put two runners on in the bottom of the eighth but not score, and win the game by one run. I make this prediction in teh top of the 4th at 3:22 p.m. EST. Bank it.)

I cashed but that could not have been an enjoyable game to watch up until the 8th = my point

In The Hole,
Okay...Gotcha.
I understand your point of view.
It wasn't pretty by any stretch of
the imagination. but I have lost some well-played
games and this is okay by me once in awhile

That's the one thing I hate about him is the excuses, he has to realize by now that when you bet 10-15 games a night, you will get games like that and you will get just as many that go the other way.
It was disgusting to watch, so bad I turned it off in the 7th but it was pretty damn sweet putting my night games in and finding out I won.

Funny how he changed his tune, it went from it should have been a blowout to the Cubs looked bad for the 1st 7 innings.
Jesus, what a mess. Our Game of the Week won, with the Cubs covering the run line thanks to a 3-run bomb by Alfonso Soriano in the bottom of the eighth. I though the play was a real good pick and a good spot, but I will say there is no way we should have won that game. Cubs looked like hell for seven innings. But hey, that's why they play nine. Sometimes you lose some you should definitely win and sometimes you win some you should definitely lose. I will certainly take that cash...and run!
