    *200 Seattle Seahawks +3.5

The Chargers face very little preseason uncertainty after experiencing little roster or staff turnover during this past offseason.

However, the Seahawks are looking at many replacements this year. Hasslebeck who was injury plaqued last year will receive more than his share of snaps tonight. Partly to evaluate his recovery and then to build chemistry with new receivers. Among his first-string targets will be wideout T.J. Houshmandzadeh, who will be making his debut in a Seahawks uniform. Seneca Wallace, the Seahawks are likely to give Jeff Rowe and rookie Mike Teel some snaps

On the other side of the ball, San Diego' starters will probably receive only limited reps, and running back LaDainian Tomlinson is unlikely to play. He never does play in the preseason games. Darren Sproles is likely to appear with the first-team at running back, before Jacob Hester, Michael Bennett and fourth-round draft choice Gartrell Johnson. San Diego reserve quarterbacks Billy Volek and Charlie Whitehurst figure to garner most of the playing time on Saturday behind starter Phillip Rivers.

Look for a close game, and take advantage of the points in this preseason opener.

    Good Luck!! G

    *200 Detroit Lions -3

Jim Schwartz and Matthew Stafford will be among those making their Lions debuts on Saturday night. I love this matchup tonight. We are getting 3.5 points with a team who has a new new head coach and a battle for the starting quarterback position.

Stafford is battling with incumbent Daunte Culpepper for starting quarterback duties, and the veteran is likely to get the first shot to show what he can do on Saturday. Both will likely play with the starters for some time. Stafford and Culpepper will play hard for us tonight. The Falcons, meanwhile, enter their preseason lid-lifter with more certainty on both sides of the ball following last year's surprising 11-5 campaign. The Falcons will be focusing on the defensive side of the ball and trying to cure some ailments there.

Starting QB and 2008 rookie of the year Matt Ryan is expected to play only briefly before yielding to backups Chris Redman, D.J. Shockley, and possibly rookie John Parker Wilson. Recent reports say that Wilson is dtruggling in practice and missing the mark in several areas.

Take the Lions giving the points tonight, but don't get discouraged if we are down for 3 quarters. This will be a close game towards the end of the 4th.

    *200 Chicago White Sox -110

I am taking the White Sox for another win today. I have found several nice trends in favor of a White Sox win. First, I have the White Sox as 19-8 SU since 2005 after a win in which they were tied at the end of 6 innings. I also, have the Athletics as 6-15 SU since 2004 at home after scoring 6+ runs loss. Take the White Sox for the win.

    *300 Cleveland Browns

Mangini head coach of the Browns is making his debut tonight. One of the major decisions for Mangini and his staff, including new offensive coordinator Brian Daboll, will be identifying a starting quarterback from Brady Quinn and Derek Anderson. Both will likely receive extensive playing time tonight. Both are slated to receive equal snaps on Saturday, and Quinn is expected to start tonight.
The focus for the Packers will be on the defensive side of the ball. New coordinator Dom Capers is attempting to implement a 3-4 scheme with an emphasis on rushing the passer. Good luck with that Dom.
Offensively, quarterback Aaron Rodgers and the first-string is expected to receive only limited reps, in keeping with first-game-of-preseason tradition. Second-year-pros Matt Flynn and Brian Brohm are currently listed as the Green Bay backups.
Let's go with the Browns based on the Quarterback battle, Jamal Lewis and a new coach tonight. Feel comfortable making this wager for win.

    *300 Kansas City Chiefs

Todd Haley and quarterback Matt Cassel will make their starts as members of the Kansas City Chiefs. Haley, who was over over one of the league's best offenses with the Arizona Cardinals. Again tonight we have a new head coach and new quarterback making thier debuts.

Cassel, who hadn't started a game since high school, stepped in for an injured Tom Brady last season and went 10-5, throwing for 3,693 yards with 21 touchdowns and just 11 interceptions. Cassel's targets on Saturday will be another newcomer, ex-Giant Amani Toomer.
Ok. Want some exciting news that is putting us on this play. The Texans' starters are not slated to play many minutes, which will bring in backup quarterbacks Dan Orlovsky (ex-Lions) and Rex Grossman (ex-Bears). Talk about some weak back ups in tonights match up.
Take the Chiefs and feel comfortable tonight with a win!
