    Default Wunderdog sports Free picks

    MLB

Game: Tampa Bay at Los Angeles Angels (10:05 PM Eastern)
Pick: Los Angeles Angels +110 (moneyline)
After a lot of early failures, mainly do to an injury depleted pitching staff, and their best player out of the lineup, the Angels have risen steadily to now hold the third-best record in baseball. And they are still under the radar. They have been especially lethal against lefthand pitching, where they own a 24-11 mark. This isn't something new, as a year ago they went 29-18 to bring their two-year total against the port-siders to 53-29. While the Rays are vastly different the last two seasons, the biggest area it has shown up in is at home where they are 98-45, but has not translated on the road where they are just a less-than-average team at 68-78. When they are favored on the road they are an even worse 12-28. The Angels have been riding momentum as they are now 27-9 in their last 36 off a win, good enough to make them the choice here as a very live dog.
    WNBA

Game: Sacramento at San Antonio (8:00 PM Eastern)
    Pick: Sacramento +7 (+100)
The oddsmakers are treating this Silver Stars team like they are the same one that blew through the WNBA a season ago at home, winners of 15 of the 17 games played here. They stand at just 6-4 so far this season at home, and resemble little of what last year's team accomplished. They have won half of those six games by four points or less. The Monarchs are not a good team, but are better than what they were at the beginning of the season. They opened by losing their first five on the road by 10+ points, collecting zero ATS wins. They have since won twice on the road and have been highly competitive. San Antonio has had great difficulties playing with short rest as they are now a woeful 1-11 ATS after just one day of rest. I like Sacramento to stay inside the number here vs. an overrated San Antonio team.

    Preseasong NFL free pick today

Game: New England at Philadelphia (Thursday 8/13 7:30 PM Eastern)
    Pick: New England +3 (-120)
This exhibition game offers substantial history to follow as it relates to coaching philosophies. This year marks the 10th for Andy Reid as head coach of the Eagles and the ninth for Belichick leading the Pats. Coach Reid has never been about winning in the exhibition season, but rather about testing and evaluating new personnel. That is evidenced by the fact that Philadelphia has not had a winning record during the preseason for each of the last six seasons. His teams are 15-25 during the NFL-X under his tenure. His record gets even worse in week one, where Reid's Eagles are just 3-8. It is tough to lay points with a team that has a long history of winning very little under their current coach - especially in week one. Coach Belichick actually has a winning record since taking over at New England with a 20-17 mark. In week one preseason action, his Patriots teams are 6-4. In addition, normally Tom Brady could care less about playing in the preseason. But, this is not a normal year for him. Coming off a year of inaction, he's chomping at the bit and will play in this game. He wants to show everyone, including himself, that he's back. Coming off an 0-4 preseason last year, I look for the Pats to try to have added incentive win this year. I have an NFL-X system that backs teams that had a bad preseason last year that applies in this game. The system is 15-4 ATS including 5-1 the past three seasons. I'll take New England with the points in this one.

Game: Chicago White Sox at Oakland (10:05 PM Eastern)
    Pick: Oakland -150 (moneyline)
When you look at the White Sox, they have to be concerned by what they haven't seen from Jose Contreras. Every once in awhile, he pitches a gem, so he seduces them into thinking he is what he once was, which has become apparent that he isn't. Contreras has pitched his teams to just a 32-52 record in his last 84 starts and on the road, he is just 12-21. He has been brutal on the road over the last three years as his best road effort in the three-year span has been 5.13, certainly not the quality he once displayed. Brett Anderson is quickly blossoming into a top of the rotation for the A's. After the A's went 0-6 in his first six starts, with his ERA over six as well, Anderson has taken charge. His last nine starts show the A's at 8-1 while his ERA is at 2.90. That’s good enough for me to play the A's in this one.

A loss yesterday, free picks are 3-1 since aug 11

Game: Pittsburgh at Chicago Cubs (1:05 PM Eastern)
    Pick: Chicago Cubs -170 (moneyline)
The Pirates have played well at home, but when they take to the road, the wins have been hard to come by as they enter this one at just 18-42 on the season, or winning at a 30% rate. The Cubs really get it turned up playing against the poor teams in the league at home, as they have compiled a 53-19 record against them, or a 73.6% winning percentage. Take those percentages and look at this line, and ask where the value is in this one? Zach Duke has pitched well for the Pirates, but with that said, they have still lost seven of his last eight starts and on the road, they have dropped eight of his last nine. This one shows solid value for the Cubs across the board, so Chicago gets the call here.

4-1 Since aug 11 with a win yesterday.

Game: Toronto at Tampa Bay (1:35 PM Eastern)
    Pick: Tampa Bay -180 (moneyline)
The Blue Jays are just 24-34 on the road this season and in division games they are downright awful, having gone 16-28 on the season, scoring only 4.0 runs per game. At home, the Rays rock. They are 37-19, scoring 5.6 runs per game. They have struggled recently having lost five of their last six, but they are off a win and this is a good game to keep the momentum going. Four of those five losses were on the road and the one loss at home came at the hands of Roy Halladay, so don't be too concerned about the recent performance. The Rays start Matt Garza who has a 3.80 overall ERA which drops to 3.29 at home. Marc Rzepczynski goes for Toronto and he's got a 1-3 record and 6.75 ERA over his last three starts. When the Jays are off 2+ straight road games this season, they are 18-30. Tampa Bay is 35-11 at home in day games the past two seasons and 37-8 as a home favorite of -150 to -180. There's great value on the Rays here, even at this price.

You guys do realize that they don't really have Free plays.
What some people label as free plays are actually one of their pay plays.

    Thanks and Good Luck, G

    5-1

Game: Milwaukee at Pittsburgh (7:05 PM Eastern)

    Pick: Pittsburgh +110 (moneyline)
The Brewers started the season apparently not missing the big losses in their rotation, but it has caught up to them. Tonight it will be sometimes starter, and sometime-reliever Carlos Villanueva. Villanueva has not had success in either roll and the Brewers are 4-9 in his 13 starts the last two years. The Pirates will get a lift on the mound tonight as Kevin Hart takes the ball. Hart has made six starts and allowed more than three runs in just one of them while pitching to a more than adequate 3.69 ERA. The Brewers are just 5-14 in their last 19 road games against a home team with a winning record on the season, and Villanueva has lost all of his last six starts against the NL Central. I'll go with the Pirates in this one.
