SATURDAY'S PLAYS 35 Dime Blue Jays

    Blue Jays at Athletics

BLUE JAYS - The Toronto Blue Jays and Oakland Athletics have hooked up seven times this season, with the Jays taking 4 of those meetings, including 4 of their last 6.

Tonight, the Jays will cash in once again against the A’s.

While Toronto has had success against Oakland this season, it’s really nothing new. Over their last 13 meetings, going back to last season, the Blue Jays are 10-3 against the A’s. In fact, the Jays have won 4 of their last 6 in Oakland.

Scheduled to take the mound for the Blue Jays is Brett Cecil, who pitched a gem against the A’s earlier this season when them met up on May 10 in Oakland. In that game Cecil gave up only five hits and no runs in 8 innings of work leading Toronto to a 5-0 victory.

Consider, too, he’s won 2 of his last 3 starts where he’s allowed only one earned run in 20 innings of work.

Scheduled to be opposite Cecil tonight is A’s starter Trevor Cahill, who’s had a rough go at it lately. He only has one win his last six starts as he’s allowed 26 earned runs in 28 2/3 innings of work.

Cahill will struggle again tonight as the Blue Jays get over once again on Oakland. Take Toronto on the road in this one.

    Today's Complimentary Selection

The Nats couldn’t quite get it done yesterday and we end up taking a loss. That’s fine because I’m delivering a winner tonight as I’m taking the Tigers on the road at the Indians.

Over their last nine starts the Tigers Rick Porcello and the Indians’ Jeremy Sowers have been the complete opposite of one another.

The Indians have only three wins in Sowers’ last nine starts, while the Tigers only have three losses in Porcello’s last nine starts.

On the road Detroit has won 4 of Porcello’s last 6 starts away from home, while the Indians are just 2-4 in Sowers’ last 6 starts in front of the Cleveland fans.

Also consider that this season the Tigers have absolutely owned the Indians. In 11 meetings this year, Detroit has gone 7-4 against the Indians. Also consider that in four meetings in Cleveland, the Tigers have gone 3-1.

The Tigers will continue their winning ways against their AL Central rival and get over behind Porcello tonight. Pencil in Porcello as your starting pitcher and take the Tigers on the road in this one.
