Pick: 4 unit(s) MONEYLINE: Seattle Mariners -120 (Play of the Day)

4 Unit Play. Take the Seattle Mariners -120 over the Baltimore Orioles (Saturday @ 10:10pm est). We are taking the Mariners as a home favorite today as we back one of my favorite bounce-back pitchers. For starters, I have taken Washburn on the bounce-back at least several times this year (x4 times I believe) and we have had sound success with it (3-1). Here are his earned runs over his last 10 starts dating from May 18th: 4, 2, 2, 4, 1, 1, 0, 6. Notice after his start where he gave up 6 runs to the Angels at home, he came back to give up no earned runs to Oakland on the road. The same can be said forw hen he gave up 4 earned runs to the Rockies on the road only to come back home and give up 2 earned runs to the Diamondbacks at home helping his team win 4-3 going 7 strong innings. Such is the case today where he comes off a 4 earned run performance in New York where the M's lost 2-4 to the Yanks as he gave up 4 runs in 7 innings and picked up the loss. I look for Wash to have a solid effort as he returns home today as Bergessen comes off several solid starts of his own. The only thing is that he has faced the Mariners twice before and has given up just 2 runs in 15 innings as he got the best of them in his last start winning 3-1 at home. I look for the Seattle bats to get the better of him today in a bit of a revenge. This should be a tight game, but I look for the M's to squeak it out here. The O's are 1-5 when Bergessen starts as an Underdog and the Mariners are 7-1 when they are home favorites - they are also 13-3 in their last 16 as favorites as well.

    Good luck

    Monday's Comp Selection

Take the San Francisco Giants -1.5 (+130) over the Florida Marlins (Monday @ 10:15pm). I'm not a big fan of the run-line as you know and never have been, but at times, there is value in it. These two teams have hooked up prior this season and Sean West has faced the Giants. The last time the young Marlin faced the Giants he dominated them going 8 strong innings at home and giving up just 2 hits en route to a 4-0 win. It seems the league is having a bit more success figuring out the young man who is a native of Houston, Texas. I can't imagine San Fran taking it up the chin once again as they have had a good look at this kid and usually the second time around, it is the hitters that have the advantage. Tack that on and the fact that Sean has given up 22 hits over his last 14 innings roughly, and I think he will likely get hit well by the Giants today. Plus, Cain comes off a 1-2 loss at St. Louis where he picked up a no-decision and he is a sound 9-2 with a 2.48era. Cain has given up just 3 runs in his last 29 innings at home as well and I think that makes for a decent shot at -1.5 cover here. The Marlins are 1-4 when West is an Underdog and the Giants are 5-0 vs. a lefty of late and 6-0 when Cain starts as a favorite.
