The Marlins try for their third win in a row on Wednesday when they host the Cardinals who have lost five straight games and aren’t getting much from their offense. St. Louis has scored 18 runs in their last seven games and will face Chris Volstad who is 4-5 with a 3.65 ERA. Volstad has gone 1-2 with a 3.66 ERA in his last three with all three games going Under the total. Volstad faced the Cardinals last year in Florida in August and got the 4-3 win. He gave up three runs and five hits in five innings. Most importantly Volstad has held Albert Pujols and Rick Ankiel hitless as they’ve gone 0-3 against the righty.
The Marlins offense has topped four runs just once in their last six games and will face righthander Adam Wainwright who is 5-4 with a 3.35 ERA this season. Wainwright is 1-2 with a 3.15 ERA in his last three starts. Wainwright has faced the Fish twice in his career winning 3-1 last year and getting a no-decision in a 5-2 Cards win in 2007. Hanley Ramirez (1-9), Dan Uggla (1-8), and Jorge Cantu (0-4) have done the worst against the righty.
