At 7:05 pm, our complimentary selection is on the Detroit Tigers over Anaheim.
The Angels defeated Detroit last night 2-1, and in that game bested the Tigers' ace, Justin Verlander. Now, Anaheim will try to win the 2nd game of this series, and defeat the hurler who is emerging as Detroit's 2nd best pitcher -- Edwin Jackson. In 11 starts this season, Jackson is 5-3 and has a sparkling 2.30 ERA, and 1.02 WHIP. In his last outing, he pitched eight scoreless innings at Baltimore, and struck out seven Orioles en route to a 3-0 Tiger victory. Jackson's mound opponent tonight will be Kelvim Escobar, who is making his first start of the year. This is a tough assignment for a pitcher to kick off his season while returning from an injury. Take Detroit. Good luck, as always...Al McMordie
