I mean honestly, how many more brutal beats can I take before pulling a game out that I don't deserve. Pods had a 6-4 lead in the 7th and a 7-6 lead with a man on 2nd and two outs in the B9. Heath Bell is one of the best closers in baseball and has allowed only one run all year and Garrett Atkins was up and with his .188 average on the season. He hit a weak grounder up the middle. It took a half hour for it to get through the infield but the SS was nowhere to be found and couldn't even knock it down to keep it in the infield so the run scored. Two outs, tie game, man on 1st. Hawpe hit a Texas League bloop to center field. Gwynn Jr. had no chance to catch it but like an ass, dives for the ball, which rolls past him. Atkins, a slow runner, had stopped at 2B, but despite the ball not getting past Gwynn by all that much, somehow scored to win the game.
I thought the favor was finally going to be returned on the over in the Sea/LAA game. At 8.5, it looked hopeless at 3-0 in the T9 with 2 on and 2 out. Then Lopez homered to tie it. Seattle took a 4-3 lead in the 10th and the Angels got the lead off man on in the B10. All I needed was a run and I win. The gambling gods were finally seeing fit to give me one miracle back before the end of a miserable month of May. Then Torii Hunter checked his swing and hit into a double play and Morales flied out and game over.
I actually love today's card. I'm not sure if that's a good thing but I am hoping to at least close out the month with a strong Sunday. After last Sunday where I lost one game where I had a 10-0 lead and another where I led 7-1 in the 8th, Sunday's are volatile. Best of luck to everyone.
