    Teddy Covers free play write-up

Haven't posted an MLB opinion here in the forums for a while, here's a 'Free Play' for Thursday:

LA Dodgers @ Chicago Cubs (Wolf vs. Wells)
    Recommendation: Take Chicago -130

After a truly dismal 0-6 road trip and a ‘hangover’ loss in their first game back at Wrigley Field, the Chicago Cubs have righted the ship with back-2-back victories in the last two days. A team that was pressing and struggling is now considerably more confident and relaxed, as clearly evidenced by Lou Pinella’s joking to the media after Carlos Zambrano got thrown out of the game last night.

Since their 4-4 start, the Cubs are 10-4 in their last 14 at Wrigley, a team built to dominate on their home field. Don’t be fooled for a moment by Chicago ’s position in fourth place in the NL Central. This team remains one of the ‘class’ teams in the NL, and we’re not likely to find a better ‘buy low’ scenario on the Cubs than the one we’re looking at today.

Rookie righty Randy Wells has been nothing short of outstanding in replacement of the injured Rich Harden. In his first three big league starts, Wells has allowed only 14 hits and 3 runs while striking out 16. In his last outing, he needed only 95 pitches to get through seven full innings against the red hot Padres. Wells has a strong ’buy’ sign on him right now.

Let’s not forget how the Dodgers embarrassed the Cubs in the playoffs last October, winning the first two games right here at Wrigley – this is one of those rare regular season games that actually has some real meaning for the home team. LA starter Randy Wolf has come back to earth after a red hot start. In three starts against the Cubs last year, Wolf lost twice, with an ERA of 6.32. As a team, the Cubs hit .323 against him.

Chicago hits lefties better than righties at home and has hit 38 points higher against southpaws in their last ten games. Put it all together and we can expect the Dodgers to come back to earth in a hurry tonight following their three game sweep in Colorado .

    Take the Cubs.

    confirmed.

Big Ticket: 6* NBA Game of the Month
Teddy puts his smokin' hot 22-6 NBA side run on the line tonight with his first 'Big Ticket' report of the conference finals. The situation and the pointspread make this contest truly worthy of 6* status -- this is one play that serious bettors simply can't afford to miss!

At first I was like "what? Teddy's been spotty?" but as impressive as his overall record has been lately, on a 8-2 run in his last 10 plays, his NBA have been off and on. I did some back tracking on the Teddy Covers posts and it looks like he is 4-4 on his last 8. He has already picked Clev twice in this series and seems determined to have them cover a spread. Personally I think the 1st half Clev -3 bet is the best one for tonight. I have bet that one a lot thru out the play-offs with much success. Think back in this series alone...how many times has Clev gone into half time up 5 or more points? Let me help you; 3 of 4 so far. G1 +18, G2 +12, G3 -1, G4 +8. Clev also had a lead in the 1st Q in all those games except for Game 3. Good luck finding decent odds to bet these now. Books are wise to these trends and it's -145 on Clev -3 for the 1st quarter and -3 at -115 for the 1st half. I'll take that and the Over 190.

ZBOIZ, was does the 4-4 mean with regard to ted's NBA plays? Would have thought he played more games than eight or are these BT only. Not to inspiring at 50%, anyway.

This is certainly incorrect information - Teddy has NOT taken Cleveland twice in the series and he is doing substantially better than 4-4 in his last 8. Over his last 10 plays (as of last night) he is hitting 70% (7-3) and this record is very accurate.

Likewise however, I do hope he is incorrect on the Cleveland play.

I agree with the big ticket.
    Cleveland will play
well tonight. They will hang on tight.

I think cavs will win tonight too..i just hope they won't cover the spread because I don't think Orlando will let them win by double digits. Because for the magics this is a great chance to prove that they are a superior team. They won't let Cavs beat them easily either.

I DID NOT say he was spotty. I was reacting to someone's else post. I said he was 8-2 in his last 10 picks not 6-2? I think Teddy is one of the best. I did make a mistake when I went back and looked at the post. I rushed and should have been more careful proof reading. I was simply pointing out his NBA picks lately seemed a little up and down recently. He actually (if I have it correct this time) was 5-3 in his last 8 NBA picks. Posting all his MLB plays was irrelevant to the discussion and that is why I did not bother to show all those numbers. I know Teddy is on a sick run but I like to consider what someone has done in a series or in his last week or so. Being 24-9 on your NBA sides means nothing if you have 3 loses in your last 5 picks.

You guys missed the real value of my post which was supporting the Cavs in the 1st Q, 1st half (which should have covered) and the Over. 2-1

No shit he is not 4-4 in his last 8. NEVER said that. Take the time to read the post. I said he was 8-2 in his last ten which is what I got directly from Covers.com. I did make a mistake and do apoligize for rushing my post. On the his last 8 NBA picks which he did go 5-3 and only took Clev once before last night. But I do believe he was 2-3 in his last 5. A consideration to think about before jumping on his someone's pick just becasue they are calling it their "Game of the Month". Not trying to take anything away from Ted but I was not considering his MLB plays for a NBA game which I liked anyway. So I'm glad you were wrong.

Who we should all be mad at is Mike Brown. What a terrible coach. Up 22 points at one point in the 1st half and he let's his team stop playing good motion offense and take bad jumper after bad jumper until Orl almost takes the lead before half time! Now I know how eveyrone felt after Toronto blew that big lead the other day

I apologize if it felt like I was jumping on your neck - I didnt mean for it to sound that way. My bad bro. All I was saying was that those records that you listed weren't correct - and on that note - Teddy is doing amazing.
