Florida Marlins -145

The Nationals went 73-89 in Manny Acta’s first season at the helm in 2007 but last year went 59-102, giving them the most losses of any team in MLB. Last year’s loss total was also the franchise’s highest since 1976 (as the Montreal Expos). Meanwhile, the Marlins went 84-77, led by an infield which featured four players who hit at least 25 HRs (a first in MLB history!). The Marlins hit 208 HRs as a team, a total surpassed by only the Phillies (214) and White Sox (235) in 2008. The Marlins outscored the Nationals 106-72 during the 2008 season, winning 14 of the 17 meetings (won seven of nine in Miami). Ricky Nolasco takes the mound on Monday afternoon, looking to extend Florida's recent success over the Nationals and tries to keep up his 'mojo" from last year. Nolasco had a solid rookie season in 2006 (11-11) but then made just five appearances (four starts) in 2007, due to an injury. However, he rebounded in 2008, going 15-8 with a 3.82 ERA. The Marlins went 21-11 in his 32 starts and his plus-$1,394 moneyline mark was topped by only Cleveland's AL Cy Young winner, Cliff Lee. Nolasco is 5-1 with a 3.53 ERA in eight career appearances (six starts) against Washington. John Lannan gets the call for Washington, coming off a year in which he went 9-15 with a 3.91 ERA in 31 starts. The Nats were 9-22 in those 31 starts (minus-$897), including going 5-12 on the road, despite Lannan's solid 3.19 road ERA. The Nats were just 25-56 in all their road games in 2008, going 13-40 vs right-handers. The price is a little high but I'll lay it with the Marlins and Nolasco.
