I think it would be cool to have a tournament here at SBR. Everyone who wants to join should find a partner to make a team. Set up some rules and guidelines of some sort and bet on the bowl games or any sport of that matter. It could build new friendships, learn something new about the person you may not have known before. while gambling at the same time. Just a friendly little betting tournament for a few points or maybe the mods can get something going. Thats what this site is all about am I not right?

yes I think it would be cool to get to know some other people around here. rather than the same stuff everyday. Loosen up the environment, have some fun, learn about some other people, and have a nice little competative tournament with an incentive at the end

could possibly even do a long term tournament where you work with a different member every week or something and can't work with someone more than once. And even keep like a solo thing going where who ever has the best record wins in the end or something along that nature. meet someone new every week and have some points or something in the end

I remember the previous team tourney.

If we do another though, I really like the idea of switching partners each round--sort of a round-robin type thing. Like Mattis said, it forces people to get to know each other a bit, but really the strategic value could be especially cool too. Teammates would have to make cases to each other about WHY they think they should play one game over another, which is really (at least as I understand it) the whole intent of a handicapping forum.

I was hoping some of the mods could set something up for free to get more people involved ya know? and maybe some type of cash prize or something from the store, or even points. it doesnt really matter. I'm still game for this... especially if we adopted my idea (above) where we switch up the teams each "round", or however the contest is formatted.

Mattis, I think you'd find plenty of support for this contest if it actually got of the ground, but the SBR mods are busy and I doubt if they are going to go to lengths to read this thread and make up rules for a complicated contest. Perhaps if you actually came up with a set of rules and PM'ed Lou, we could get this thing going.

How does this look? Basing it off the last team contest since it was successful! If his works out well, then maybe I'll set up a 2 man tournament like I stated earlier!

SBR 4 Man Teams Contest Free-For All! Register Your Team Now!

• Contest will run from December xx to December xx
• Each team will have a 'Captain', to be decided amongst yourselves. It is the Captains responsibility to submit their team name to xxxx by PM, as well as listing the other 3 members.
• Minimum 20 picks/person each (minimum 80 picks per team on December xx), no max. Make as many plays as strategy determines you should! Each poster MUST make the picks in the thread themselves, captains are unable to do so for them. In the event that one teammate decides not to play, or is missing in action for a period of two weeks and has not replied to any communications on the forum, they will be replaced with another poster.
• You may only use the lines on the games offered in the Daily Team Lines Thread. This will include NFL/NCAAF, NBA/NCAAB pointspreads and totals for full game only. All picks without the included juice will be graded as -1.50 if a loss, and +1.00 if a win.
• Picks will be made in your teams thread in Handicapping Contests Forum. For example, "JJgold's Warriors".
• You may not make the same picks as your teammates. A duplicate pick will not be counted win or lose.
• You may not fade (select opposites) of your teammates in an attempt to minimize losses to juice. Picks cannot be canceled so it is the team captains responsibility to ensure no fading occurs.

The deadline to register your team is December xx at 7PM. On December xx, the 4-man team with the most units won will be declared winner. Minimum 4 teams to begin contest.


Players who fail to make the required minimum plays will incur a 1.50u loss for each missing play.
