Default Why Nick & Bigdogs Pointbook Closed Down

http://www.lvrj.com/sports/rancid-te...-65968977.html

Ill give you some highlights from the article from the link above.

Rancid teams prove to be bookmakers' nightmare

''I can't remember an NFL season with this many bad teams,'' said Las Vegas Hilton sports book director Jay Kornegay, who has been in the business for 22 years. "No doubt, it was the worst day ever for the books.

''We can't attract money on these poor teams. We keep losing on the same teams. They are not even close to covering.''

But it was a sorry Sunday morning for Las Vegas books with public favorites Pittsburgh, Green Bay, Indianapolis, New England and San Diego covering. Houston pushed as a 3-point favorite in a 24-21 win over San Francisco.

"I talked to a few other directors, and it was as bad as it could get in the morning, when you have the favorites going 5-0-1,'' Kornegay said. ''From that point, it's very difficult for the books to dig out of that kind of hole. From there, it's damage control. The parlay liability snowballs.'

The Buccaneers, Rams and Browns are a combined 1-20 straight up and 6-15 against the spread this season.

Kornegay said more than 90 percent of the straight bets made at the Hilton on the Colts-Rams game were on the Colts.

"I can guarantee every book on the planet needs the Dolphins to either win or cover against the Saints. But that's just preventing a nightmare,'' Kornegay said, as the Saints stormed back and the books' nightmare worsened.

I had over 2500 when I started. Nick had 1500.

I have also never cashed in any points for pizza, prizes, etc.

We could still book for like a 40 limit but it is way too much work for that. If I am going to spend 10-12 hours around a computer on Sunday, like last week, then I better make some points to make it worthwhile, ala the 100 point max. I dont want to make 50-100 points. Not worth my time. We feel right now, 1700 points isn't enough to book higher stakes action.

That article makes a lot of sense. I won all my parlays on Sunday and hit every single NFL game, including Buffalo ML, Arizona ML, and Cincinnati ML. My best day ever. I thought it was just me but I see a lot of others hit too. I've been hearing that this year has the biggest discrepancy between the good and the bad teams. But now we know it is true. We're going to start seeing higher spreads than we ever have before if this keeps up. I did miss MNF's game figuring Washington would be able to beat Philadelphia given what happened last year in those games and last week with Philadelphia getting embarassed by Oakland. Should have seen the pattern of all big favorites hitting and stuck with it. Hope you guys get back on your feet. The site needs another reputable sportsbook, like the one you guys previously had. Good luck!

I take that back. I pushed on Houston in one parlay so it dropped from 3 team to 2 team. Still won though.

At one point, after making all the payouts from a day with the book, I had over 2,200 points. Now I have less than 500. It just doesn't make sense running a book with that level of points. And the time involved is crazy. Time is money, and I can think of a lot of better ways to spend my time than running a book. To be a good book, you need to be online most of weekend, and we were.

I told bigdog it already seems like the pointbook closed down a month ago instead of one day ago. I will enjoy being just a regular member here now instead of a bookie. Don't get me wrong, it really was fun while it lasted and the customers were almost all great people. But I am looking forward to the SBR sportsbook opening and seeing what it offers. And I'll still keep betting with MexicanStallion whenever I have action to place.

Tough luck guys, the parity isn't out there this year, the poor teams are really poor.

For all the winners yesterday, you can proudly say you were a part of the worst day on Earth for the books

The books had a terrible weekend last week. They should have done well at the start of the year.

It was nice while it lasted. That did seem like waaaay too much work if you weren't banking major points off of it.
