With Sunday, the 12,000 prize pool comes close. 55x220 is only 12,100 so the house only skims 100 points, which is insignificant.

got up for 8 am again, had 36 so I passed, was going to play in midnight due to TNT Thursday night, but then saw the second game was a 9:40 start or so, meaning it'd end 12:15 or so, so played in 10 PM instead, which had 39 entrants

playing in 8 am tomorrow so I wanted to avoid the midnight one unless I was going to be staying up anyway (which I would be on the normal TNT schedule, which has the 2nd game at like 10:45).

7th. bad luck on final table. Dealt a ton of rags, also folded AJ when alwaysdrawing went allin with 789Q. Turns out he had 25.

Then accidentally called with A5 spades due to the table being brought into focus when I was trying to call in another tourney.

Turns out I had AlwaysDrawing beat, but he had J9 and flopped 2 9s.

Rudy did tell me after that you can switch off the option to have the table brought into focus when it's your move. Might've finished a little higher if not for that.

Folded my first ten hands or so after hitting the final table because I hit a run of awful cards.

These low finishes are pretty pointless when it comes to the World Cup. Not that I have a real shot, but I wanted to see if I could make it somewhat close.

The cut off 'should' really slow down a lot soon. With less people playing each tourney I'm guessing that's about to happen (although the top 20 US players do all seem to still be at it)

Anyway, daily commitment until the very end will see you rocket up the listings at some point... if you are one of those that plays 5 days per week right through.

That's what I'm relying on to catch up and win my better finish than lowest scoring US player bet.

Bear in mind I am many times more likely to come 7th than 1st when making your calculations though. I do think that scale is fair or I would not have suggested it.

*edit: also I forgot the most important reason. My current record reduces the risk on your side. And I will unregister and not play if I'm not in a winning frame of mind at the time. To further reduce risk.

I know you've been finishing lower end of final table when you get there but your deal wouldn't make any sense for me. The buy-ins are slightly more than the prize pool. So for an average poker player like myself, it's -EV just to enter. I'll probably do it anyway, just because I like to make stupid decisions sometimes.

For a stake, the likelihood of course is that you won't cash and I take all the risk so I'm out 220. Even if you finish 6th or 7th I'm not exactly cleaning up.

I guess to feel like staking is +EV in a situation where there is zero overlay you'd have to be staking an exceptional poker player.

sure no problem. I do want to stake to keep good terms going in our arrangement but like I said I just don't feel this is a positive tournament to begin with, and that's before I'd start thinking about staking. If there was a good overlay obviously I'd feel differently.

Yeah well I guess your best chance at hitting the target is not having to give back with a stake anyway. Bet the points yourself, whether in this poker tournament or with some kind of bet with a good payout. Wouldn't be good to come through and get first and then have to give a large chunk away.

I'm not worried about the chunk to 'give away'. I don't see it like that at all. I'm only looking at the potential on my side vs the time/effort required when there is zero risk. My mission is to find a minimum 3000 points per month. And the more angles I can find to make points without risk, the less I need to gamble. I will gamble like crazy before this month ends if i need to. Which is partly why I've been holding onto points and freeplays etc. In the long run I know myself and how money (points) burn a hole in my pocket, and think treating coins like gold to be hoarded, rather than risked willy nilly, will see me doing a lot better. Anyway, that's my excuse for taking a stake when I have coins in hand myself. I guess that offends your +EV or nothing logic a little.

Jake I would've PMed you but I don't have them. I didn't want to stake for Saturday, certainly. With the structure as it was set up, I wouldn't even play in it, let alone stake anyone.

Optional, it doesn't offend my logic. It's simply that while I try to give everyone action, betting in the points threads, etc., I can't do it if it exceeds a certain threshold. For example, a NASCAR matchups thread that had very high vig.
