Millennials Now Bringing Their Parents Along On Job Interviews

These helicoptering parents need to let their kids actually grow up!
I would never consider hiring a person that brought a parent along with them. It's cool if they just need a ride and the parent stays in the car, but to come inside the building and participate in the interview is outrageous.

Though this may seem like a pretty basic rule of getting-a-job etiquette, but 8 percent of recent college grads brought their parents along to an interview, according to an Adecco survey cited by the Wall Street Journal. What’s more, a full 3 percent actually had their parents sit in on their job tryout.

that's insane, 8 percent bringing their parents is bad enough. 3 percent actually brought them in, unreal. The future scares me, I'm part of it but won't be doing anything important.

I do know of some Managers at Big Box stores that have to write a letter to the parents stating how well their kid is doing at work.

Ever see the movie "Idiocracy" with Luke Wilson? What a hilarious and scary look at our dumb future!

The film tells the story of two ordinary people from the present who take part in a top-secret military hibernation experiment, only to awaken 500 years in the future in a dystopian society full of extremely stupid people. Advertising, commercialism, and cultural anti-intellectualism have run rampant and dysgenic pressure has resulted in a uniformly unthinking society devoid of intellectual curiosity, social responsibility, and coherent notions of justice and human rights.

Great movie, yet sad how on point it is starting to look for our future.

Thought this was a joke, HR departments would really consider hiring someone pulling a stunt like that?

I interviewed hundreds of people at Dell and can tell you, it would be a very short interview if a parent came along.

Interviewed 2 people who brought mommy with them. They don't go so far as to sit in on the questioning but needless to say they had zero chance of getting hired

really? Now I am curious. Can I ask you a couple questions? How old were they and what kind of a job were the applying for? I am assuming they were under 16 or so? Surely they cannot be college grads.

I now remember when I was 12 or so delivering newspapers on my bike, there were parents that got up early to help their kids. I supposed they probably went with then initially but that was when they were 12 or thereabouts.
