No sob stories, no long speeches, just ban me for two months (I'll e-mail around March Madness for a return). When seemingly every post from all the new under 25 year old posters who live in dungeons gets my blood pressure rising, it's time to point the finger at one's own self. Similar to why I finally couldn't stomach Covers. Every single game is a reason to puff their chests or go bankrupt, and I've been in this game for better or worse for too long to go haywire like that. I commend the intelligence and wit of a Ganchrow when his name is sullied, but I tend to just get enraged. 99% of the time it doesn't even involve me, but when I read some punk like 2pac, donjuan, WWsucks, jeffries, or any other of these new malcontents taking potshot after potshot at some of the good guys on here I feel my chest tighten, my face get red, and my hands ball into fists. I've been like this my whole life, and can remember fighting several guys that I thought were picking on little guys even in high school...


This new generation are such big mouthed, unmotivated, uncouth, stick with nothing, uneducated, mean spirited punks that the disconnect is noticeable with me. Instead of making real friends and playing outside, they've grown up pale and talking shit to one another on their computers. I play to win and win big (and had a tremendous close to '07), but when a forum literally gets my blood pressure rising it's time to step off the pedal...

I respect you BB for calling it like it is, I've been getting turned off from the board myself. That's probably why people are saying EOG is a lot more gambling oriented and pleasant than SBR now. Looks like we brought the winners over here exclusively to increase traffic and in the process have really dumbed down the atmosphere.

We really do have some great posters/people around here. Hopefully all this traffic can bring SBR more money , which will lead to better things for the quality guys around here, after some of these posters leave.

Long time reader, just recently began posting though and know exactly what you are talking about and completely agree with you. I'm not going to mention any names, but I know the people you are speaking of and make it a habit to ignore any thread that they are involved in. This didn't used to be difficult. I would know almost all of the threads here were by informed individuals, not looking to cause trouble, but post and debate intelligently. Now, it is probably much less of a majority and barely any of the threads are even worth reading anymore. Anyway, sad to see you leave and soon others will be joining you I'm sure.

bbd, I can't speak for anyone but myself, but I'm staying put. It's just a lot more trouble to find the threads that contain anything worth reading. The board is still a great resource, but I find myself getting annoyed with more frequency than usual. Of course, if I was as up-to-speed on NCAA Hoops as I normally am, this would be a moot point. Thanks to having a kid and getting an MBA, my capping time has been cut from hours a day to hours a week... Last year (and the 3-4 years before that) I was on top of every mid-major conference... Now, I'm not seeing the angles.

Don't let those who you think are clowns, chase you away from what is in many ways is an informative\ entertaining forum that you seem to thrive in.

We all need breaks from our regular routines occasionally, take a bit of time off, then come back fresh, you'll feel better upon your return.

When you see something that really fires you up, tell the poster what you think but don't let it remain with you forever, it only hurts you,tell them what a scumbag you think they are then carry on.

Over the few months I have been here you have helped me out a few times. I hope you decide to stay, but I could understand if you do take a break. I have noticed you haven't been posting as much over the last few weeks.

I haven't been here long, but I hope I haven't been any part of the problem you are mentioning. If I am, I would pack up and leave to save a quality, informed poster such as yourself. SBR needs more guys like you. I know alot about sports and am learing what I thought I knew about gambling because of 1st class guys like yourself.

Its a shame ppl like you and pags are leaving, and I hope you will reconsider. Thanks for the times you have helped me and please reconsider because the new guys that are willing to learn need you around.

I can't say I blame you. The level of intelligence around here keeps dropping. I'm not sure there's anything to be done about it. Traffic is what will drive SBR's business.

Jay Edgar posted all last season a great NBA method (an actual rating system for pickin games, not a curious, bet on all favorites on thursdays), that finished up almost 100x (ml's and ats). Sadly, he's not posting anymore -- probably because of all the idiots.

Curious may think banning me will make the board better, but he also wants them to ban Ganchrow -- which would completely ruin this place.

But, this isn't a game for me and I shouldn't be wasting time arguing with these guys so I think I'll leave the posting to curious. Going to go win the basketball parlay contest first, then take off till the baseball contest.

I think there is more "pressure" now for posters to reach the magical 1,000 post mark to get that free trip to Vegas. As a result, we are seeing an inordinate amount of useless threads and posts.

Back when I first started posting on here, it was just a small group of guys who were interested in different sportsbooks, gaming theory, and serious breakdown and discussion about games and coaches. These days, it's clear that those topics don't interest many of the new group of posters. It's a tradeoff between a bigger audience but less quality.
