I went tonight with my buddy to try and get one. All of the stores that sold units at minnight had lines 200-300 deep. I would have waited outside at Best Buy, but they don't open until 8 a.m. and it freezing out tonight.

Did anybody here get one?

Not paying that much for that system. Its like 500-700 depending on what version you get and stuff.

Not worth it when my laptop can play the same type of games , and look just as good.

Maybe in the future when they come out with mod chips and stuff, but not right now.

PS3 should be sweet, this will let Sony know what to do to beat the 360.

I really want one. My girlfriend works at Best Buy up here and could have set one aside for me and got her 10% store discount on it and the games. There was only one way I could afford it right now with Christmas coming up: Clear my CRIS account. Unfortunately, that was not a sacrifice I was willing to make at this time!

Looker, the base unit was $300 and the unit with the harddrive and wireless remote was $400

Well thats a big drop from the prices I seen on EBGames last month for preorder. I think they were 599 and 699 or something like that. Now your going to make me go look.

See, that's where they get you. They make you get four games. When these new systems come out the first set of games usually suck.

I am never sure what the rush is with this stuff. the way i see it is that in 6 months (or when PS3 comes out or even just after Xmas) the prices will fall dramatically.

Also, the old games will have been made for the old Xbox ... so its not as though there are trunkloads of games to choose from that have been specifically made for this.

That said, I hope Xbox thrives if only to keep Sony on their toes.

Whats everyones favourite console game?

MOH Frontline was one of my first games and it was a thrill to play.

Also, respect due to Timesplitters 2 and Hitman Contracts.

I find myself playing FPS more then anything else. That and sports games. I use to play the Delta Force series alot. Was mainly all I played.

I want the $400 system with 3 or 4 games at $60 a pop. I've heard the 360 has some solid launch titles. Perfect Dark Zero, Madden 06, NHL2K6, Tiger Woods 06, Call Of Duty 2, Project Gotham Racing 3, and Need For Speed Most Wanted are the highlights on my wish list but there's even a few more that are already available. Top Spin 2 and Ghost Recon 3 are supposed to hit just after Christmas.

I have to say that Microsoft is brilliant. They're intentionally creating a shortage of the system to build hype and get free media coverage. They're actually shipping sold out signs with the systems as part of their marketing strategy. Releasing the system a month before Christmas will help too. PS3 is due out early in 2006, which isn't very smart. Not to mention that Bill Gates announced last week that Halo 3 on 360 will be released the same day as the PS3. Sony isn't smart by pricing the PS3 at $500 either. Needless to say, there's a reason why Microsoft is the company it is today.

those lines were crazy this morning. when i was watching the news this morning. they had footage on one walmart store in Los Angelas, Ca. and that like was rapped around the building.

I remember last year i was training in Cornwall and was stumbling home in the early hours after a night out and come accross a huge queue outside a game shop. Turned out the GTA : San Andreas gamne was coming out.

There were families and all sorts. Camping out for Beatles tickets is OK, camping out for a game is just sad!!

I play alot of battlefield2. Used to play the original desert combat of course. My kid also plays call of duty and the rest of the popular war games. HE is a gaming freak and is pretty good at the lowly age of 7

It sounds like Microsoft got the response they wanted. The 360 is sold out nearly everywhere and selling on Ebay for twice the retail price. Microsoft has said that more systems will be released to stores "on a week to week basis." I'm just hoping to get one by my birthday in March.
