Does a blocked shot count as a shot attempt?

If Dwight Howard goes up for a layup and gets blocked by Earl Boykins does that count as an attempted shot for Howard, making him 0-1fg or is he still 0-0fg?

on another note, if the shooter gets fouled, then that will not count as an attempt
