Another reason you want to do your homework as an MP
The Hill Times reports that Justin Trudeau was unaware of Sen. Patrick Brazeau’s background when he challenged him to a boxing match:
“I was wandering around on those green buses saying, ‘Isn’t there any member of the Conservative Party who actually wants to punch me in the face?’ And that got a lot of laughs and funny looks, but no takers,” he said. “I actually sat down in my office with some of my staff who actually went through a list of everyone we could possibly fight and it was this whole production.”
He considered Conservative MP Ryan Leef, a trained mixed martial arts fighter from Yukon, as well, but said there was a weight class difference and he wanted to fight someone who also didn’t have experience in the ring. Finally, a friend texted him to recommend Quebec Conservative Senator Patrick Brazeau.
“He said yes, right away. Actually his staffer said yes for him right away, not ‘I’ll check with my boss,’ it was, ‘Oh yes, he’ll do it.’ So, I should’ve been a little worried right off there,” Mr. Trudeau said. “But I said, okay, fair enough, and then Patrick confirmed yes he was in, and then belatedly I decided okay, let’s look up his bio and it was only then I realized that he was former military, kick-boxer, second degree black belt in karate, you know someone who’s very experienced in combat and someone who’s put me instantly in very much an underdog position.”
Brazeau is a Cree Indian with a kickboxing and karate background. Trudeau started boxing when he was a youth.
Crees are tough sumsbitches!
Just came across an article. Bodog has it, forgot to check them :duh:
Conservative Senator Patrick Brazeau is the clear favourite and Liberal MP Justin Trudeau in the underdog in the upcoming charity boxing match, according to an online bookmaker.
Online casino Bodog.ca putting up Brazeau at -500 and Trudeau at +300 odds—for payouts of 1 to 5 and 3 to 1 on a win, respectively.
“Brazeau a big favourite to win, we’re saying there’s an over 80 per cent chance that he will win this fight. Trudeau is 3 to 1 underdog. Basically what that means from a gambling perspective is you would win three times your money if he wins,” said Bodog.ca sports book manager Adam Burns.
At Bodog it's still:
Brazeau -500
Trudeau +300
BTW, the fight will be broadcast on Sun News Network
Line hasn't moved.
Tale of the tape
Trudeau = 6'2", 175
Brazeau = 5'10", 183
175 is lanky for 6'2"
How old are these guys?
Trudeau is 40
Brazeau is 37
I would like to see Trudeau get smoked.
I think he will get smoked.
-500 isn't enticing enough :banghead:

Gimme the injun!!! I'll eat the chalk!!!!

OTTAWA -- It's the clash of the titans, politically speaking.
Liberal MP Justin Trudeau and Tory Senator Patrick Brazeau will punch each other for a good cause Saturday night.
The Montrealer with movie star looks weighed in at 180 pounds while his pony-tailed opponent tipped the scales three pounds heavier at a light-hearted official weigh-in Wednesday night.
They trashed talked each other about the lengths of their respective respective ... er... arms, and Trudeau took a verbal jab at Brazeau for wearing a Speedo.
When Trudeau held his arms out to boast the length of his wing span, Brazeau glanced down at his Speedo and said, "Well if it's length you are after."
But both political pugilists were sincere in reminding everyone that the brawl is for a good cause.
"The reality is we lose too many people to cancer, this is for a very important cause I am going to win this with my mind and my fists," Trudeau told a packed pub venue.
Standing on a stage posing with their fists clenched and raised, both looked like they meant business.
"I lost my mother to lung cancer; we were all at her bedside when she died," Brazeau said. "We have to beat this disease."
The celebrity slugfest is sold out and money raised will go to help find a cure for cancer.
Earlier during question period, Trudeau asked Heritage Minister James Moore about Katimavik, a youth program started by his father, the late prime minister Pierre Trudeau.
Moore instead responded with some bad boxing tips for Trudeau.
"If he goes in there with his hands down low and his chin up high, that would please Canadians," Moore said. "He'd give Canadians the greatest show we've been waiting for."
Sun News Network is the exclusive broadcaster of the match, one of the most interesting spectacles from the capital to hit the airwaves.
Trudeau won the fight! Stopped in the third after Brazeau ran out of gas.
Victory for the Liberals

I wanted to watch the stream, but unfortunately, while several sites (including Sun's own) claimed to stream Sun TV, none of them actually functioned.
this page seems to claim they do
