This bill puts us deeper in debt and gives people more time (less incentive) to find jobs.

    Smart

Nothing better than gambling with unemployment money.

I agree there is not many jobs for even the ones that have a degree in something. I know a few people that cannot find work right now at even the low level. I do think they need to extend this unemployment at least until the end of the year. With the GOP standing in the way though it might be hard to get it passed. I say who votes against this should not have a job next election and the people that run against them should use that as an issue in that election. I say get this passed and then we will go on to other stuff.

Anyone (with half a brain) can find work at a fast food joint, grocery store, manual labor, etc.

This bill is going to cost us another 30 billion folks.

The issue is how do we pay for it. Dems just don't seem to be to worried about that part of the equation. Or if they do I have not heard them address that yet. It feels good to help people, but at what cost? If the Dems would remember that they previously enacted legislation requiring Congress to "pay as you go" and follow their good law they'd get some Republican support.

Its only a matter of time before this bill is passed and one more mistake is added to the list.

Man some of the posts on here are hilarious. Alot of the people unemployed are people in there late 40s and 50's. Most these people have worked longer then you clowns have been alive. You telling me these people are lazy that have worked 20 to 25 years? Some of you people mouthing off better be thankful you have a job and didn't get laid off. It really isn't as easy as you think you can't just go to a fast food restaurant and get hired. It isn't that easy and until you live in those people shoes that are out of work shut ur mouths.

And don't blame the unemployment bills for the mess this country is in. How bout this never ending war what is the bill tab on that. Where has that war got this country anyway? God bless all the soldiers over there fighting some meaningless never ending war that has cost this country trillions and trillions of dollars.

Your missing the point. Yes, jobs are harder to find. But how does extending the benefits to 100 weeks give the one's who are milking the system any incentive to find a job? Those who have fallen on tough times will seek employment and I guarantee you they will find it. But what about those who are simply milking the system? They waste taxpayer dollars and now have a longer time to do as such.

No one said the unemployment bills are the reasons the economy is in the tubes (but now they are negatively contributing more than ever). No one mentioned the war either.

milking the system?? geez not out here in nevada. there are no jobs period. over 14% and climbing. casinos firing old timers with benefits and hiring people off the streets for 3 bucks an hr......a right to work state gives an employer the right to hire and fire anyone they want. it's fukin heartless.

In some states like New Jersey, unemployment is over $500 a week..... add in an under the table cash job for a few bucks, and you are good to go for a year or so....... in my new state of Georgis, it is only $320 a week, and you can barely eat and pay rent.

    LOL, The General, how ironic!

Anyway, while I am against those wars, the war is an ultimate stimulus, it creates jobs. The WWII was what ended the Great Depression.

Letting Bush tax cuts expire seems like a good place to start.

  33. #33

Right cause raising taxes now is only make things better how again?

You also have companies still moving out of the country because they are overregulated here. Mr. Nina's company is building new plants in other countries because the EPA harps on them constantly. It makes more business sense to build elsewhere. Now who is going to replace all those jobs lost?

What did keeping them low (during a time of war no less) appear to accomplish? I'm not convinced it did anything, and countless economic experts agree. And to cut anyone off, if my year continues to be as strong as it has been I'll be in the group that might face this tax next year (knock on wood) and I still think it's the right thing to do.

Sounds like a different problem to me. With that said, it's tough for me to say much of anything without knowing the type of work you do. Obviously some industries need more EPA involvement than others. It's fine if you don't want to be too specific, but can you share what type of work it is?

  35. #35

they make high stress insulation. The company also has a foundry division. And I agree that some EPA is needed. However, I know Mr. Nina and how anal he is in regards all EPA and OSHA regulations. So for him to say they are being over regulated either out of business or out of the country carries a lot of weight. I would prefer hiim NOT to have to spend months in Mexico while they are building a new plant.

And it isn't a different argument but part of the original. If you lose jobs (such as these) they have to be replaced. Or else your unemployment keeps climbing. And if they aren't replaced, how long can the country afford to extend unemployment benefits. Raising taxes (or allowing tax cuts to expire) is only going to hit small businesses and other industries and further cripple your economy. But I also think that there are some that think that is a good thing.
