Hillary Clinton, Other Candidates, Must Take Position on Internet Gambling
With less than a year away from election day, you damn right these candidates need to tell us their views on gambling. At least Ron Paul made it crystal clear where he stands on the subject.
Quote:
Hillary Clinton has received the support of some powerful and influential gambling executives in Las Vegas. Her campaign has announced the formation of the Nevada Business Leadership Council which is headed by Jan Jones, a former Las Vegas Mayor and a current lobbyist for Harrah's Entertainment.
Phil Satre, former chairman and CEO of Harrah's, Howard Lefkowitz, CEO of Vegas.com, Henry Terry, Executive Director of Human Resourses of Playlv Gaming Operations, Punam Mather, Senior VP of MGM/Mirage Group Corp are also members.
In light of these endorsements, some suggest that it is a good time to question Sen. Clinton on her stance regarding Internet gambling. A powerful politician such as Clinton could be the deciding factor when decisions about Internet gambling reach the stage of legalization if she were to become the next president.
Senator Clinton's Nevada Presidential Campaign is headed by Rory Reid, son of Senator Harry Reid of Nevada.
Senator Clinton supports labor and believes a strong business community is in the countries best interest. With the endorsements of those mentioned above, analysts believe it should be made clear by her on which side of the Internet gambling issue she stands.
"Idle talk and comments are not good enough," said Casino Gambling Web's analyst, Gordon Price. "A definitive position on this issue is necessary not only from Clinton, but of all the potential candidates. No politician should be allowed to answer 'We will look further into the subject', or 'we are studying it', a simple yes or no answer is needed because this possibly could be the single most important issue that will effect the future of international treaties.
"We must all remember that it was Harrah's that contributed a reported $50k to then Senator Bill Frist prior to the enactment of the UIGEA, and as this is perceived to be directly related to the effort of Frist and his cronies to implement this awful bill," Price said, "Clinton should make her thoughts on the subject clear.
"All of the candidates must be made to take a position on this issue."
Elaine Wynn, wife of Steve Wynn, and Director of Wynn Casino, last summer joined the Barack Obama campaign.
Sheldon Adelson, billionaire owner of the Venetian Hotel And Casino is a heavy contributor to the Republican Party and supports many GOP causes and candidates.

What are the odds that we are a brain dead country if we elect socialist Hillary?1/40
Odds that we are in huge trouble if Hillary gets elected,1/100,odds that we are a welfare state if Hillary gets elected 1/150,odds are that we are a worthless country if Hillary gets elected 1/90,odds are that we are a sexually deviant country if Hillary gets elected 1/74,odds are Hillary not having a crazed right wing Montana mountain man standing in her way between her becoming president, even money.

Good luck on getting a straight answer from her. I tried to watch the dem debate last night, and gave up after none of them could answer any of the questions without going on a rant about something else. The only question I saw her answer a straight yes or no to was a NO on illegals getting drivers licenses.
I really dont think you will hear any of the real contenders give a yes answer to being pro net wagering. The article seems to make it pretty clear that the candidates are going to go the way the big Vegas $ want it to go,jmo.

Odds that we're already at the point you describe BrentCrude = 100%. I voted for him twice over, so I carry some of the blame, but Bush has ****ed our country to a point that we'll never recover from. The day of the US being hip, cool, respected, thriving, and a lone superpower is over...

You might be able to gamble if Hillary is elected, but odds are that any winnings will be taxed at about a 75% rate.

I think it is possible that Hillary may make it regulated with U.S. gaming companies go on the internet and make it so the government will get a share of the winnings that players have. The government is in huge debt currently and that is a good way to generate tax revenue. I do believe that she is taking big business money from Nevada and try to get this passed, then regulate it somehow with other competitors around the world. It will help the businesses in Las Vegas do very well with online gambling. It would be a way not to owe to these other countries and just work a deal with them. This isn't going to happen until this President is out of office and that day cannot come soon enough.

I hate to tell ya'all this, but pretty much no one in the straight world cares about internet gambling. No politician is going to care about this. There is no mileage in it for them.

Here's the man for the job! Wayne A. Root. Libertarian Party.
Not only would he legalise gaming, he'd be selling his touts from the White House. I voted for him in todays California Primary. A wasted vote but at least he will get at least one vote.
