Default Protest ideas

Lets use this thread to brainstorm on interesting protest ideas against this legislation. I like the PeterWellington's idea of boycotting all gambling, but that's a bit impractical for one and secondly, more importantly, it isn’t plainly visible.

Lets do something that will make the news.

One idea: Everyone send an envelope with 1cent in it to the White House. Bush is unpopular as it is, and the media will jump at the opportunity to lambaste him again. If we can get the message out, we could send a lot of pennies.

I think something very gimmicky would be better than something mundane like a letter.

The way to do this is through a show of power. If we -gamblers and their friends - would all boycott the Superbowl, that would send a huge message. All those expensive commercials going unwatched. You would have to sell it as a political boycott in the name of freedom.

We could also boycott one day each month. No college ball on Saturday. The networks would get the message pretty quick.

It would be a great start to have the next Superbowl tagged as the least watched in recent history. From thereon we roll.

Let's hit the corporations where it hurts.

I like it, but it'd be pretty tough to pull off. Maybe one game a week we could all agree to avoid, would they notice that? It's also hard for someone to do a news story on something "not" happening.

how about all gamblers switching from coke to pepsi or vice versa? Let us make an official disgruntled soda of gamblers. See if it has any impact on sales... I for one don't give a crap which brand I drink.

There are a lot of angry bettors out there right now. Word could spread fast over the internet. The viewing numbers would speak for themselves.

I'm perfectly willing to skip the Superbowl. A very small sacrifice against this assault on our freedom.

Is it time to create a union? Not talking about health insurance. Just about the ability to present a unified front, and move as one when the situation requires it. Our individual efforts are little drops in the ocean. Yet with a little effort we could create a tsunami.

I've watched one Super Bowl in the last 15 years, so that will be easy for me, DH.

Send a letter to Nancy Pelosi, copy the DNC, and tell them if they want the same thing in '08 that they got in '06, then either lighten up on the offshore biz or figure out a way to bring the US action into the mainstream gambling world with full access for American players.

I think most people would have an easier time expressing themselves if it were anonymous. I don't want my name attached to anything.

BAM! Would you guys be willing to donate $10-20 or something to a charity? Lets pick a really politically correct charity and we all donate some funds to it. That'd make a story. Gamblers use their frozen assets to support a charity!

anyone?
