Tea Party Group Urges Small Businesses ‘Not To Hire A Single Person’ To Hurt Obama

    http://thinkprogress.org/politics/20...es-hurt-obama/

Congressional Republicans have acted shocked and offended at Democrats’ suggestions that they are intentionally sabotaging the economy to try to win back the White House in 2012. Republicans have refused to pass President Obama’s jobs plan — which experts estimate will create at least 1.9 million jobs — and proposed an alternative plan that Moody’s says “will likely push the economy back into recession.”

Now influential Tea Party leaders are throwing caution to the wind and openly lobbying business owners to stop hiring in order to hurt Obama politically. This week, Right Wing Watch picked up on a message Tea Party Nation sent to their members from conservative activist Melissa Brookstone.

In a rambling letter titled “Call For A Strike of American Small Businesses Against The Movement for Global Socialism,” Brookstone urges businesses “not hire a single person” to protest “this new dictator”:

Resolved that: The current administration and Democrat majority in the Senate, in conjunction with Progressive socialists from all around the country, especially those from Hollywood and the left leaning news media (Indeed, most of the news media.) have worked in unison to advance an anti-business, an anti-free market, and an anti-capitalist (anti-individual rights and property ownership) agenda. [...]

I, an American small business owner, part of the class that produces the vast majority of real, wealth producing jobs in this country, hereby resolve that I will not hire a single person until this war against business and my country is stopped.

Brookstone cites Democrats’ support of the Occupy Wall Street movement as proof that Obama, media elites, and the like are “against business, private property ownership and capitalism.” Although she fails to explain how a freeze on hiring would send a bold pro-business message, given that such a boycott would further damage the economy and exacerbate high national unemployment.

But these Tea Partiers are only too happy to put politics ahead of the well-being of 14 million unemployed Americans, not to mention the businesses who are looking for qualified workers.

This is news why? She's one woman with an idiotic idea.....we can find a thousand equally idiotic ideas camped out in NYC right now...doesn't either of them more likely to come true. A business owner is going to hire when they need to in order to make a profit....period. Regardless of what one person with no credentials says simply from a personal agenda to make herself feel special.

That's pretty fukking lame. If I was in the Tea Party I would find out who that bitch is and shut her up. That type of dialogue doesn't help what you stand for.

Is she even a real business owner?

But, if a progressive liberal just can't let go of trivial shit, does that make him pathetic?

This may well be one nutjobs rants .. but the fact that the "TeaPartyNation.com" thought fit to forward the rant to all of their members makes it much more valid and open for discussion.

If you do not see that .... then you need to remove your blinkers and wake up to what they are saying ...

One nutjob at an "OWS" rally = the opinion of everyone at the event .. however one Nutjob rants .. which is then forwarded on to all members of a recognized political action group .. and this is just a lone voice and not the opinion of a larger movement ..

You right wing hypoctrits kill me.

Only to a conservative nut job would stealing be considered trivial. You expose yourself almost every time you compose something. That is, when it is your own which is not very often.

only a progressive liberal pathetic old man without an original though in years, still comes on here, calling people names and falsely accusing others month after month and year after year like he is some kind of authority. Oh and he claims invented the term "internet tough-guy".

"in an effort to hurt obama, such and such did/said this....."

  14. #14

Pretty hypocritical that the left constantly tries to hurt people they disagree with through boycotts but is outraged when the right does the same thing once.

Smart private sector owners are not going to jeopardize their livelihood to try and make a political point. I'm sure any business right now would love to hire new workers because that would mean that their confidence for short term growth is high. The confidence is just not their across the board, and the "working man" is paying for it right now.

If a situation is out of hand, sometimes you got to take a stand in the hopes of making it better.

Isn't this what Union thugs do when they go on strike?

Difference between speech and harassment of others and invading their life.

TEA Party gathered peacefully...then left at the end of the day...no blocking roads, no shittting on lawns and private property destruction and they are now heavily influencial in the Congress and swept into power in elections at the polls. OWS is out of control in every city they inhabit...from North carolina to boston to chicago to NYC and calif....incidents and arrests in every one and yet they expect the same results with no plan.

I'm sure I could find an example or two if I looked hard enough.

JW - the media went out in force and asked people to phone in any sign of misbehavior from the TEA party gatherings.....remember the tend of thousands who were applauded for picking up the parks after themselves....gathered and had speakers and music then left. They did not sing and dance on private lawns all night long....have standoffs with police....wear bandanas to cover their faces and scream at law enforcement and run through barriers....piss and shitt on police cars.....vandalize local businesses.

Go ahead though.....take a few minutes and search for arrests and vandalism. I'd like to see them.

The main difference of course is that your lot are downright nukkin futz ...

    http://www.wired.com/threatlevel/2009/04/twitterraid/

An Oklahoma City man who announced on Twitter that he would turn an April 15 tax protest into a bloodbath was hit with a federal charge of making interstate threats last week, in what appears to be first criminal prosecution to stem from posts on the microblogging site.

Daniel Knight Hayden, 52, was arrested by FBI agents who identified him as the Twitter user CitizenQuasar. In a series of tweets beginning April 11, CitizenQuasar vowed to start a “war” against the government on the steps of the Oklahoma City Capitol building, the site of that city’s version of the national “Tea Party” protests promoted by the conservative-leaning Fox News.

“START THE KILLING NOW! I am willing to be the FIRST DEATH!,” read a tweet at 8:01 PM that day. “After I am killed on the Capitol Steps, like a REAL man, the rest of you will REMEMBER ME!!!,” he added five minutes later. Then: “Send the cops around. I will cut their heads off the heads and throw the[m] on the State Capitol steps.”

Hayden’s MySpace page is a breathtaking gallery of right wing memes about the “New World Order,” gun control as Nazi fascism, and Barack Obama’s covert use of television hypnosis, among many others.

In addition to the threats, many of Hayden’s tweets fixated on another Oklahoma City man whom he erroneously believed was in charge of the city’s tea party demonstration.

This will go nowhere, companies hire enough employees to meet their customers demand. They don't just wake up one day and randomly decide to hire. Tea Partiers aren't intelligent enough to understand this simple economic principle let alone own and operate a business.
