The Somali piracy situation seems to be getting worse. This week they nabbed a tanker with $100M in oil.

Press reporting indicates the pirates are welcomed by the locals in Somalia because they are the only ones with any money to spend. The merchants extend them credit and fathers are offering their daughters in marriage. Consequently, recruits are flocking to join. Can they be eradicated?

The Indian gov't sunk a "mother ship" a couple days ago. I was surprised at how low the pirates set the ransom for the Sirus Star, 10mil for a ship that has cargo alone worth 100mil, not to mention the ship itself and the value of human life.

you really think they know its worth 100 million ,were talking about refugees from somalia, they have only seized 30 million so far in ransoms 10 million is aquick easy as score for them that will be their biggest score they will be happy with what ever they get and most likeyl end up dead due to it simply becasue its oil and people in the oil industry are ruthless
