Default John Mccain +550

Sorry to interrupt this forum, but if there's ever been a good underdog politics bet, this is it. McCain is creeping up in the polls, and something tells me that this is going to be much closer than the liberal-biased media is letting us believe. The hardcore conservatives come out to vote, and many independent conservatives who have impact (i.e. Michael Savage) are reluctantly endorsing him.

For what it's worth, I personally am voting for Bob Barr due to my total distrust for our current government after the bailout, so my own views are not coming into play with this analysis. Remember, Bush and the Dem. congress snuck the 'no internet gambling' add-on into a port security bill, and has made it harder for us to bet online. But, with all that said I'd be less depressed with McCain due to the fact he's not a socialist, and I think he has a good shot at knocking off Obama, which will of course ignite riots of young, liberal morons.

Bob Barr '08 baby!

I like Bob Barr, but the truth is, by voting for him --- you are just taking away a vote for McCain.

An independent will never win the race (this year), so the vote becomes pointless.

I agree totally, but I told myself I'd never vote for anyone who supported the bailout, even though I'll be rooting for McCain election night. Both candidates are just awful and I can't get myself to vote for McCain as much as I know I should. There are important local elections this year otherwise I wouldn't vote.

"Obama is a socialist"............oh good lord

If McCain wins the election I'm moving to another country. I can't handle it anymore. How many more old white republicans do we need to put into office before we learn our lesson?

I honestly could not believe that there were states in this country that were actually dumb enough to re-elect Bush. Four years ago I was sure that there was no way he could get re-elected after he spent the first four years proving he was a freaking moron, but the dumb-asses in certain states (mostly the freaking south) needed 8 years to pick up on things.......

Obama is a socialist but what does this have to do with college football?

And, I honestly cannot believe the dumbasses that believe Bush is responsible for our economic problems.

Mccain is NOT going to win. In order for John Mccain to win the election, he must win every single one of the following states:

Missouri
Indiana
Ohio
North Carolina
Virginia
Florida

Then, on top of that, he must take two out of these 3:

New Mexico
Colorado
Nevada

This is the only way for him to win. The odds of this are very very small. Go to www.fivethirtyeight.com and see objective statistical analysis. You will see they have the % chance that Mccain wins at 4.3%.

The polls, if anything, are slanted toward Mccain. Most pollsters do not call cell phones, which understates the younger vote, which is overwhelmingly for Obama. Early voting is really really really high in states like NC and Virignia. This is good news for Obama as pollsters may be understating turnout. More turnout is good for Obama.

Exactly. That's why I put the thread on here, for the gambling aspect. I plan on getting fairly liquored up election night and nothing goes better with binge drinking than gambling.

Dbldown--I agree with your sediments on Bush---I think he's the worst president ever. But the reality is, the Obama stances on 'wealth redistribution', health care, welfare, etc. do push the boundaries of socialism

woah woah woah....I never said that he shouldnt be re-elected because he was responsible for the economic problems. The economic problems were caused by the same banks and corporations that we are currently bailing out.

There were plenty of other reasons not to re-elect Bush. The fact that he's a ****ing idiot being one of them. But I never said the economic issues were his fault

If I were going to bet on the election the ONLY bet one could make here is McCain. The odds at +550 make that the only bet.

Let me be the first to say that I am not voting cause well your vote does't matter, and if you think it does then you are nieve and ignorant. McCain is a good bet but none of you have touched on the reason why. The reason why McCain is solid because underneath it all we live in a very racist society, even those of us that do not consider ourselves racist are to some degree, everyone is guilty. I believe Barack is the better canidate, well because McCain is going to die soon and then we would be stuck with that idiot from Wasila that was the Mayor of some moose and Caribu. It is all going to come down to when the voters step in the booth can they accept the fact that they are voting for Black president. I hope they can. If Barack wins then a whole bunch of other problems arise with assasination attempts and riots, and I actually think we could be on our way to a civil war.

First of all your vote does matter depending on what state you live in.....I myself live in Illinois so it doesnt matter. But in some states it does.

Secondly if racist ignorant fools wanted to kill Obama (and many do they just cant). It would have been done by now. Why would they just wait until after he became president to kill him. At that point itd be too late

His policies are not "socialist" thats absurd. If his policies were actually socialist he wouldnt be leading to vote for the presidency of the united states. Now are his policies a little more geared to equality and evening the playing field a bit? Yes. Socialist however absolutely not.

Anyway-- some other good bets election night (all odds betonline.com):

McCain to win popular vote in Florida +300
McCain to win popular vote in Indiana -140
McCain to win popular vote in Missouri +150
McCain to win popular vote in Montana -220
McCain to win popular vote in North Carolina +160
Obama to win popular vote in Nevada -400

Sen. Elizabeth Dole re-elected? NO -225 (she has no chance apparently)

Not absurd. You can win as a socialist if you brand yourself as "cool" and wallpaper television and radio with advertising.

He's the closest thing to a socialist that either major party has put on the presidential ballot in the last 28 years.

They are struggling to model the turnout this election. This is a very unique election, and the turnout is going to be huge. In GA, for example, as of a couple of days ago, early voting was already at 180% of the total early voting in that state in 2004. And like I said, huge turnout is good for Obama, as he has a big lead among first time voters and lapsed voters.

This bigger the turnout the better for republicans. That is not just true for this election, it's true for every election. Thats why democrats always try to get more people to vote, and republicans dont.

Of course none of it matters if you're brother happens to be governor in the most important state in the election....In that case fraud and cheating do the trick hahaha

You are wrong. More turnout is better for Democrats. In 2004there were over 72 milllion registered democrats in the United States, and only 55 million registered Republicans. Republicans tend to turn out much better as lots of Democrats are minorities, low income, and young people. Groups that tend to not vote.

Health care policy. Check.

Tax policy. Check.

Close ties to socialists and socialist groups from the beginning of his political career. Check.

Saying he is a socialist is a very strong charge which he will of course deny. I cannot look into his heart, but his policies and actions reveal him to be someone who, if not actually a socialist, is as close as a major party candidate can get.

Whoever wins, there will be huge controversy due to potential voter fraud. All joking aside, I truly think that there will be riots if Obama loses. Unfortunately there's no betting option for that.

I agree with a post a while back about white people coming out to vote simply to vote against a black candidate. I don't think this country is as racist as many would lead you to believe, but it's still in the back of many people's minds, most likely 50-60 year olds who were around during the dark side of racism.
