Default Nice day in Iraq Saturday

Glad we're staying the course and on the right track.

20 US servicemen killed on Saturday alone, biggest 1-day total in almost 3 years.

13 dead in a helicopter crash
2 dead on Friday (not reported until Saturday)
5 dead in Saturday attacks.

Puts things in perspective a little bit.

It's even worse than it appears. I don't know the numbers, but the wounded figures are astounding, not to mention the soldiers coming home without legs or arms. I think people just focus on the death count sometimes and forget about the rest.

You and I see eye to eye here..

It's a horrible situation and I feel horrible for the families.

Cost of the war now $8.4 billion per month. A total waste. Plus we can't afford to dig a hole like that.

Biggest fiasco in the history of the US.

I read that psychological problems are among the most common of the 'injuries' soldiers are being sent home with. Even if they aren't missing an arm or leg, many of those people will never recover fully.

Not to mention the estimates of Iraqi dead that range in the tens of thousands. I think the most reliable ones put the count at somewhere around 35-55,000. And that's just direct casualties. There will be indirect casualties for years from malnutrition and no access to proper medical care. Its a tragedy for sure.

Military just updated death count for Saturday. Add 5 more US soldiers to the count, for 25 on Saturday alone.

I was shocked in the 2004 election there wasn't a mass protest by military families, including National Guard, about the way the soldiers were being sent to die.

Well, at least there have been steps taken in the much more important problems of online gambling and steroids in baseball.

16000 killed in 2006 in iraq
makes 52 per 100000 inhabitants
baltimore had a ratio of 42 in 2005 ( pre katrina no should have been around 73 !)
seems to me instead of exporting violence to other countries ,usa should spend the money to solve their inner porblems
