To some extant that may be true but that is more because of anti-semitism than anything sort of rationality. Basically, the only real instance in which being the U.S. president and being Jewish might influence policy would be with Israel/U.S. relations. It's hard to imagine any scenario where even a Jewish president could be any more pro-Israeli than the current U.S. Congress and policy.
I would say if Bloomberg ran it's hard to imagine how he would carry a single state in the South. In some respects, I think Gore lost b/c he put Lieberman on the ticket. I don't think too many Southerners were very receptive to him.
