Default Attention: Washington online poker players

I was just reading on poker room review and caught this one.

Washington State Bill Repealing Criminalization of Online Gaming

Quote:
Washington State legislation HB 1243 has passed both the House and Senate and now awaits the Governor’s signature. This bill provides a defense for recreational players as long as they are engaging in online gaming in their primary residence. Prior to this bill, it was a class C felony for residents of Washington to participate in online gaming.

Just thought I'd clear this up. Here's the latest:

Washington State Internet Gaming Bill Has Not Been Amended 04/25/2007 06:43 PM
Staff for Washington State Rep. Geoff Simpson confirmed the bill did not reach the floor this session and HB 1243, which would allow an exception for recreational players as long as they are engaging in online gaming in their primary residence, has not been passed. The 2007 Regular Session has ended and the legislature will not reconvene until January 2008.

Earlier reports of its passage can be traced to a PDF from the official website for the Washington State Legislature, which showed House Bill 1243 as passing the House on April 17, 2007, with a vote of 62 Yeas and 36 Nays and passing the Senate on April 2, 2007, with 45 Yeas and 2 Nays. This document has since been removed from the website.
